3 College Freshman

Local Area: You need a car to get to the best places (LA, National Parks)

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: Its a bit of a drive to LA, but the surrounding area has plenty to do. Also you can be in mountains, in the deseart, or at the beach in an hour depending on the direction that you drive in.

5 College Freshman

Local Area: I love Claremont and the surrounding area. There is always something to do at one of the 5cs. Pitzer is about a 15 minute walk from the metro link station, which takes you into LA directly. Otherwise, its about a 45 min-1 hour drive. There is a shopping center less than 10 minutes away, and students are generally respected.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Local atmosphere here is great, the community is very kind!

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: I love going to school and living in Claremont! I wouldn't give it up for anything. That being said, if you want to go explore LA, you definitely want to have a car or borrow someone's car. The nightlife here is not for everyone...its not Greek Life, so if you are into that, this may not be the place for you. There is always something to do every night of the week, and parties start on Tuesday nights and go until Saturday nights.

Claremont is rightfully known as "The City of Trees and Ph.D.s." This small suburb is quaint and family friendly. Right on the outskirts of the Colleges lies "The Village," a cozy area full of shops, restaurants, a record store, and movie theater—all to the students' advantage. However, Claremont is not your stereotypical "college town" with amenities made with the students in mind. Most of the shops shut down early, so if you're looking for something to do late at night, venturing to The Village wouldn't be your best bet. Still, though, Claremont is part of larger Los Angeles County, and the bustling city of Los Angeles is a mere hour-long train ride into the heart of the city. Beyond LA, there are many other places to go and limitless fun activities to try. The beaches, theme parks, and clubs offer students the opportunity to explore life outside of the Claremont bubble.

Claremont possesses a notable charm, and students feel very safe going to school in the area. The majority of students agrees that the Claremont residents are very friendly, and walking around at night is not an issue. For those who desire a town or city whose residents are diehard fans of the football team at the local college or whose bars are open all night after a big win, Claremont might not be the place for you. But if you are looking for a town whose majesty lies in its quaintness, then come on over—you're sure to be welcome!
