It's Always the Same – The food has improved since I arrived in the fall of 2011 but it still has a long way to go. Every week you are guaranteed to have some type of chicken and or soup. We have lasagna and spaghetti all the time and it doesn't even taste good. The best meals they make are ethnic inspired dishes like, taco salad, chicken alfredo, chow mein and chicken and dumplings. The cafeteria serves three meals a day. The best and most consistent meal is breakfast. They make personal omelets, pizza, pancakes, waffles, bacon, eggs, toast, biscuits with gravy and there is a fruit/salad bar. Breakfast is ALWAYS good! Lunch and dinner usually fall short. Don't come here for the food because you will be disappointed. Instead of gaining the freshman fifteen you'll probably lose fifteen pounds!

In the summer it is unbearably hot, like 100 and higher! But in the spring it is beautiful! On any given day it's a nice 80 degrees but with the humidity it feels a little warmer. The fall and winter the temperature drops considerably and it gets cold! But not terribly cold, it's only snowed one time since I've been in school. The real weather we have to worry about are thunderstorms and tornadoes. Thunderstorms have knocked out our power a couple of times this year and we've had 5 tornado watches but nothing too major.

The Social Scene – The young men and young women at Philander Smith College coem from all over the United States and there are a lot of international students. The school is very small so everyone knows everyone, and it is a pretty friendly environment! There are lots of events on campus to attend through out the year, and it easy to get involved with anything of your interest. Everyone looks different and dresses differently.
