5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I believe graduating from penn state will open so many doors for me especially internship possibilities. You never know who your advisors or professors know because they can help you in achieving your goals.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It all depends in what hall your in. East Halls could be better but honestly the best dorm housing now is North, South, and West halls

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: The experience I have with Greek life is excellent. They are very active in the community and help students all around campus.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: I know the faculties are great for both students and athletes. They have gyms that cater to all of penn state. The sports and clubs are very popular on and off campus. You hear about them no matter where you go.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I would chose Pennsylvania State University again because the professor I had in English helped me achieve my goals in ways I never imagined. I came to her office hours and spoke to her through email on everything. I truly struggled in her class but it was worth it, I learned so much in her class and progressed when I I didn't think I could. Because of my English professor I feel more confident in myself and in my writing.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus because I look after myself frequently.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I just don't like when a grad student teaches the class. I paid for a professor

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The art department could use some work.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: I live in a relatively new dorm so it's even nicer.

5 College Junior

Greek Life: I am in a sorority and I absolutely love it.

4 College Junior

Athletics: I wish I had time to use the gym. I wish it was also free.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: School spirit makes the cold weather worth while.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Strong emphasis on health safety at PSU, and it is evident in the safety reports. This school is incredibly safe.

2 College Freshman

Overall Experience: As a freshman in engineering, it is rough, professors seem distant and there are no curves. But if you find a good group to study and leav with, you can do well. Classes are enormous, you just have to get used to it

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Although it is early, i believe finding a job well be easy with a PSU degree. From taking to graduating senior who already have jobs lined up, if you can get through school, you will get a job. All due to the networking PSU provides and thr opportunities given.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Although the dorms, in East, seem small, they are the perfect size for the freshman year of college. You learn how to work closely with your roommate and live in an efficient space.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life is much different from the inside than the outside, and now with the recent changes calling for the toning down of hazing, the whole system will soon have a different view about it.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Football games are the main focal point of the school, but are not as major as they seem.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The first semester for me was tough with the change from small class rooms to huge lecture and the emphasis on forcing yourself to learn information, but it is necessary to my own growth. Extra curriculars are second to none though and provide a good relief system when school gets difficult.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Penn State takes crime and security very seriously. They'll notify you of any crime with their PSU alert system, and they also have a "safe walk" system. You can call at any time, and they'll walk with you to wherever you need to go on campus, no questions asked. There's also a considerable amount of effort to create awareness about sexual assault, including informing students about what it is, who is responsible in certain situations, and how to stay safe.

Overall Experience: Penn State is really a great school. It's provided me with a ton of resources with the adjustment to college life. If you need help you can find it. There's CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) which has provided me with support and information about other psychiatric services downtown. ODS (Office of Disability Services) has tremendously helped me with my disabilities, and has provided me with the resources that I personally need to succeed academically. Finally, there's Career Services, which will help you prepare for an interview, find internships, and much more. I'm working there with a career counselor to figure out what I really want to do for a career, and she's helped me get so much closer to finding that career.

Of course, Penn State does have its flaws. The difficulties with housing options and scheduling classes all stem back to Penn State being overpopulated. However, I really doubt that this will change anytime soon, considering that Penn State exists to make money. They'll accept as many eligible applicants as they can possibly have in order to make the most money.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Career prospects here can't really get much better. Any degree from Penn State will be looked upon favorably. And with the largest alumni network in the world, it's very likely that you'll come across an employer from Penn State. The Career Fair, while competitive, is a great opportunity to find jobs, co-ops, and internships.

Despite common reservations about the location and climate, most Penn State students are fiercely loyal to their alma mater. Penn State boasts one of the largest alumni populations in the United States; graduates are proud of their degrees, and employers recognize the University’s name immediately. Although the campus is located in a very rural area, school is technologically up-to-date and on the cutting-edge of current research.

Aside from academics, PSU is also known for its social scene, especially in relation to sports and parties. Nittany Lion football—home of the 2008 Big Ten Champions—is a national draw and a point of pride for both the University and the town of State College. For anyone interested in playing or watching varsity sports, PSU is a top choice. Penn State has also been ranked highly by many polls and “party school” surveys as one of the top party schools in the nation. While it certainly isn’t the wildest town, these rankings are definitely accurate. The small-town setting and large-school atmosphere makes for little else in the way of entertainment, so it can be hard to avoid encountering the party scene during your time as a student. Still, the mix of work and leisure seems to work well for most of the student body, and academic standards at Penn State remain relatively high. It’s easy to spend four years at Penn State as an ever-serious student, focused completely on whatever you choose to study. With so many opportunities to relax nearby, balance and moderation are some of the best skills to learn from your four years in college.
