Majors: Currently I have not entered the program, but I will be starting it in the fall. I take classes related to my program and I enjoy all aspects of business. It is very interesting and I would recommend it to anyone!

Diversity: There are a lot of international students at Penn State, but everyone kind of sticks to their own. People are very accepting of everyone though.

Campus Food: Most of the food is good, but it is really repetitive. Sometimes there are really good meals in the dining hall and sometimes ice cream is the only thing that sounds good.

Guys & Girls: During the winter, you will see a lot of people in North Face jackets, long bubble jackets, and Uggs. I don't know why, but all of the girls seem to wear the same thing. Guys just wear whatever they want, i haven't noticed a trend. In the summer however, girls dress a little on the skimpy side; i would say that they really are not that careful or self-conscious about how short their shorts are or how low their top is. For the most part though, other than dress, everyone i've met is really nice and there aren't cliques or discrimination or anything like that.

Campus Quality: Penn State is more than a school. It's a family. The atmosphere of the student body, faculty and citizens of State College is amazing!! Everyone is friendly and seem to support each other.

There are so many opportunities available to students at Penn State. The work-study program has given me work experience in my major while also earning money to help ease the cost of tuition. I am a Recreation, Park and Tourism Managment major. I was presented many internships this year, which are sometimes very difficult to find. I will be doing my paid internship at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort!! Very excited for this opportunity!

Penn State is truly a unique and close knit community.

Parking: You have to pay for parking or you may get a ticket if you stay for too long in an area

Academics: I'm in the DUS College, and I've been very satisfied with my education this far.

4 College Freshman

Academics: There are a wide variety of academics offered at PSU. The class are challenging at time, just put in the work

Scholarships: I received a decent amount of help from the financial aid office. You just have to show up to there office and they will do the rest of the work

Greek Life: Greek life dominates here at Penn State. They might say that only 15% of people participate in greek life but this is far from the truth. It is very difficult to get into a good fraternity/sorority but once you do you are higher than life. One of the first questions people ask is: what frat/sorority are you in? You always see people in their letters strolling around campus. The only bad thing about greek life is housing. While men can live in fraternity houses, the women can only live on their sorority floor because if they had a house it would be considered a "brothel."

Majors: The workload can be stressful at times but what major isn't. It is something that's do-able, and as long as i get a good career when it's all over with I'll be satisfied. Also classes and workload also depend on class size. When classes tend to be too big, it can make it hard to focus. Therefore, you have to find the right class offerings and sized that work for you.

Campus Food: The dining halls give you a lot of options. Besides the buffets there are a variety of side venues you can grab a bite to eat at. Including some mainstream fast food places such as Chic-fil-a or Burger King.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: It can get expensive at times but it all depends where you go. There are many cheap options however if you're looking for a quick place to get bite or order out.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: If you live on campus you will literally not get a parking permit. This campus really only gives permits to commuters. If you want a car you have to pay a garage or a lot to park each month and it is very expensive. Parking is regulated daily and if you park illegally you will get a ticket.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: I think there are not enough computers on campus. I usually have to search for a computer or make sure I am there very early or I know that I will not get a computer. In order to attend this campus you need to have your own computer or else you will have a hard time finding a way to complete work.

Greek Life: The Greek life makes campus more fun. This chapters have many parties and the allow the students to have a real college experience. These people are viewed as the party people of the campus and people that you want to be friends with. There are many Greek housing options. Many of them are basically mansions and look very nice to live in.

Weather: Oh my goodness the weather is pretty much horrid here. Its unpredictable. It hails and snows in late April, and almost every Halloween seems to be a snowstorm that results in over a foot of snow. It gets super super humid and hot in the late summer/early fall, and it gets super wet and cold in the winters. Classes are NEVER cancelled unless your professor is awesome and it snows almost every day from december-march ish. When its not snowing, its raining.

Majors: As a Hotels Restaurants/Casino Management student, we have excellent resources and networking that helps you connect with prospective companies and employers. We have career fairs and recruiters that come on campus per week to give presentations and facilitate interviews. Summer internships with a hotel is often paid, $9-$10/hr, housing sometimes provided, excellent tourist locations such as Orlando, Florida, and a fun fun experience! Work is hard, probably 40 hours a week, 6 days a week, but you make great friends and a good resume booster.

Health & Safety: Recently I have been a bit wary about the safety on campus. We often get the "PSU Alert Texts" that let us know when there is a threat on campus- which is pretty often in my opinion. There is always some "unidentified male in a black jacket" roaming around campus after threatening someone with a knife, or they put up posters of a sexual assaulter that assaulted a girl in one of the dorms, etc.. Its nice to know that our school is trying to give us alerts about things, but it does scare me to know that the police were not able to catch a rapist for weeks on hand.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: The drug scene at Penn State is not large. Drinking was more popular, but recently, after the campus went entirely dry, the policies became stricter and it is much more difficult to get away with open drunkenness and underage drinking. The bars and clubs are stricter than those I have seen in elite bars of New York, and the police are prowling the streets every weekend night ready to catch any drunk youngster.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: The atmosphere is pretty good. People are nice. Academia are nice and the education is on par with most state schools.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I've never felt unsafe on campus and there are people that go to each building to make sure they are locked and secure.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Most of the guys are pretty cool if you get a chance to talk to them. The girls are cool too but most of the look the same, especially the sorority girls.

Campus Food: The food can be better but overall I think that the food is decent. There could be more of a variety and could also look better since whenever I look at the food it looks indecent, thats just me.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The weather in penn state is good when its not snowing or really cold. an example of this is right now, the weather up here is cold and we're in APRIL. Also the weather always changes from being real nice to being really crappy in a short time.

Despite common reservations about the location and climate, most Penn State students are fiercely loyal to their alma mater. Penn State boasts one of the largest alumni populations in the United States; graduates are proud of their degrees, and employers recognize the University’s name immediately. Although the campus is located in a very rural area, school is technologically up-to-date and on the cutting-edge of current research.

Aside from academics, PSU is also known for its social scene, especially in relation to sports and parties. Nittany Lion football—home of the 2008 Big Ten Champions—is a national draw and a point of pride for both the University and the town of State College. For anyone interested in playing or watching varsity sports, PSU is a top choice. Penn State has also been ranked highly by many polls and “party school” surveys as one of the top party schools in the nation. While it certainly isn’t the wildest town, these rankings are definitely accurate. The small-town setting and large-school atmosphere makes for little else in the way of entertainment, so it can be hard to avoid encountering the party scene during your time as a student. Still, the mix of work and leisure seems to work well for most of the student body, and academic standards at Penn State remain relatively high. It’s easy to spend four years at Penn State as an ever-serious student, focused completely on whatever you choose to study. With so many opportunities to relax nearby, balance and moderation are some of the best skills to learn from your four years in college.
