3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Great if you have a car, or have a friend that has a car. Buses run on a schedule that's pretty easy to follow. Getting to the airport is a different ball game. You've got much more of a drive, and you can't just walk to it.

3 College Senior

Transportation: We have shuttles that take the students to and from the campus from their apartments. Shuttles also go to the Walmart in Altoona. Taxis are expensive. Public Transportation would be hard to locate and get to without walking very far.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: It gets too cold to go to bus stop that is far and one.

Not very expensive but has a schedule

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Public transportation is pretty easy to access.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: There's limited taxis because they must drive between three different towns.

The transportation used most at Penn State Altoona is the Amtran Campus Loop. The Campus Loop is a route of the Amtran bus system that goes to all the major off-campus student-only apartment complexes and stores in the area. The Campus Loop is free and allows students to easily get around and get amenities like groceries.

If you want to get anywhere that isn’t on the Campus Loop, simply show your Penn State student ID card on any other Amtran bus to get where you need to go for free. Many students use this form of transportation to get to and from their part-time jobs during the week. The buses leave approximately every 15 to 20 minutes depending on where you need to go. The transfer station near the Downtown campus can take students farther away if they choose.
