The athletic program at Penn State Altoona is well respected, but students rarely go to watch or cheer on any particular sports. However, many students will go and watch the baseball team on a whim if they hear the loud speaker announcing the plays and next batters. Many PSU Altoona students also like to head over to State College to catch a Penn State football game—or at least tailgate. As a group, the athletes on campus are their own clique, but they seem fine when interacting on a one-on-one basis with non-athletes, such as in class.

Intramural sports aren't as big of a deal as they are at many other schools. Many students either do not know about them or do not have a great interest in them. However, there are students who really enjoy them, and there are plenty of IM sports to play, even more obscure ones, like fantasy football and wallyball. When it comes to the athletic facilities, they are well maintained but most are specifically for certain sports and teams, so they are off limits to the greater campus population.

School Spirit
Most students have a great deal of school spirit, and lots of people come down to the Slep Student Center to watch the Penn State football games on the big screen in the TV lounge. Unfortunately, the support for the men's sports is exponentially more than that of the women's teams.
Getting Tickets
Most athletic events at Penn State Altoona are free. A good number of students also like to get tickets to Penn State University Park's football and basketball games. However, this must be done well in advance, and tickets for big games are very hard to come by. However, even if they can't get tickets, many Penn State Altoona students go up to State College just to tailgate.
