Greek Life: They focus a lot on community service

Greek Life: I'm the president of one of our sororities, so I can only speak from Greek experience, but I feel that our Greek Life is really close-knit and awesome. None of us are national chapters, so we only exist on this campus. That makes it easier to change policies and make things better without national pressure to act a certain way or do certain things. There are extremely involved sororities on campus, but the fraternities don't do a whole lot. We don't have some of the benefits that nationals do (gigantic budgets, separate housing, etc.) but that makes it easier for Greeks not to be cliquey.

Greek Life: As someone who is very involved in Greek Life, I could obviously go on and on about the benefits of it.There is no university Greek housing, but we do have a Greek Lounge, which is located in the campus apartment complex. I feel like being such a small system, many non-Greeks do feel indifferent, but there are also negative things that go around on social media. Bringing in a national fraternity has brought some challenges as well, but the Greek community is working hard this year to bring positive changes so that Greek Life at Pacific can be looked at in a positive light. We are transitioning into a value-based system that holds all chapters accountable for their actions. I look forward to coming back to Pacific to see how Greek Life is going to grow and become a system that everyone recognizes as a positive entity on campus.
