College Junior

Online Courses: I don't take online courses.

2 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: The school treats students as numbers, and often fails to make classes and curriculum options flexible for students.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: I really like that the classrooms and equipment (such as labs) are up to date, and advanced for a community college. I think this college is set apart from other community colleges by the constant drive to prepare students for further education. My favorite aspect of the college is small class size, help when you need it, and assistance with preparing students to transfer or for careers.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Some professors are absolutely amazing with great courses, and others are mediocre. The best thing to do before registering for classes is to talk to other students and gather some opinions on the best courses and professors.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: For the price of the tuition, I think the overall student experience here is decent. The biggest obstacle I've encountered is a lack of motivation amongst other students and even professors at times. I think the college does a very good job of helping students transfer to other colleges and universities and get jobs and internships. One disadvantage is that students and alumni aren't extremely connected beyond the classroom.

Student Body: Realistically, this isn't a very diverse college. From my experience, most attending students are Christians, and with conservative political orientation. Most students are lower to middle class, and some diversity is well recieved, and other types of diversity aren't. Students of this college still struggle with acceptance of different sexual orientations, political beliefs, and religion.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I do not use financial aid, but I can say that the tuition is much cheaper than it would be at a university or four-year college. While I will be transferring soon, I am satisfied with the education I am receiving for the price.

College Junior

Career Services: This is a community college, so we don't really have a postgraduate program. However, there are services to help graduates get hired after getting their degrees.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: In my major, there is nothing the school does that is majors specific but the related classes. There are occasional recruiting sessions, but I feel like we aren't receiving the training we need to perform the job we are preparing for here.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: Class registration is relatively simple, but the payment methods are horribly complicated. The financial department is hard to work with at times, too. The workload all depends on your professors, so you never know what you're getting yourself into. I take 17 credit hours each semester without any problems, but others complain about the workload. The curriculum is very dry and basic, and in most of my classes, I feel like I'm memorizing information and facts to regurgitate on a test instead of actually learning.

2 College Junior

Campus Resources: While I think there are some positives to this school, there are certainly disadvantages. Firstly, there are no security cameras on campus, and the security department in general is lacking. Secondly, the administration tends to treat students more like numbers, and professors can be inconsiderate at times. Thirdly, the student center is mediocre at best, the parking is horrible, and student activities are extremely limited.

Campus Resources: I love owensboro community and technical college. I have really connected with some of the professors

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The classes were perfect size, just small enough to accurately learn and have the time to ask questions and etc., if needed. With the smaller classes. the teachers are able to help a lot better.

Overall Experience: There aren't a whole lot of opportunities like this at a community college.

Academic Flexibility: It was the absolute best. Before attending OCTC, I attended WKU for a semester, I was just mind blown to realize how much better college was when you had the assistance you needed. OCTC START Center helped me and enlightened me on everything I needed. They were so amazing. As well as the women as the TRAC Center, the really aided me in my college path to where I am now.

Student Body: There is huge diversity at our school. However, the student population are not involved with each other so much, especially outside of the classroom. It is as though the students are there to learn and go home, but I guess that's what you get at a community college versus a university.

Academic Experience: There actually is not a program for my major at my current college. I've taken a few related classes, and they were extremely great! I've gotten involved with a lot of the business students and it has been such a joy, all the advisors and professors are just great. But I really can't wait to be at a school with my major, doing what I love.

Academic Experience: It's all great. All of the professors I've encountered have been wonderful and helpful. The curriculum and workload are perfect for all the courses I've taken. The professors are also very good at telling us what if expected and required for the course. Our special study options are very good as well. Everyone is extremely understanding.

Career Services: The entire staff at OCTC was absolutely amazing. They were there to help with anything and everything you could need. The career center explains a lot about future jobs opportunities. We don't have a lot of alumni and such because most everyone graduated from a different college in the end. But the school opens us up to and enlightens us on all our opportunities.
