Health & Safety: Constant security on campus for safety

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus. OLLU is located on the West Side and is said to b the rougher part of town. The university police are very helpful and make me feel secure on campus. I feel like I don't live on the rougher side of town with them. There have been incidents dealing with drugs on campus but the police handled them swiftly and promptly.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: They constantly have free HIV and HEP B testing on campus and I really like that.

Health & Safety: Te campus police is always around and alert, and their numbers are posted in the hallways of the dorms. The campus provides emails and group talks that provide the information for any service we may need in the case of an emergency, disturbances, theft and so forth.

Even though the University is located in a rough area of San Antonio, there is rarely any major crime on campus, and, for the most part, students say they feel safe here. The crime that does happen in the area is away from the University, and it seems like most people tend to respect the campus. The University police patrol the campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week, even on weekends and holidays.

There have been multiple cases of vandalism and false fire alarms, and the campus police tend to give out lots of parking tickets, but there is rarely anything more serious than that. However, if something major were to happen, there is an emergency system that automatically alerts students on their phone, through e-mail, or a campus announcement. Overall, the University police are very responsive when a situation occurs.
