When students first set foot on the ORU campus, they may be reminded of a city found in a fantasy movie, novel, or TV show, such as “The NeverEnding Story” or “The Jetsons.” The architecture here is very unique: it’s all black and gold and futuristic-looking. Nearly every building has some type of Biblical symbolism, which is very astonishing. For example, the Learning Resource Center is based off of King Solomon’s Temple.

There is one library on campus and it is located in the Learning Resource Center, known as the LRC, and is two levels. While the Hamill Student Center is the true student center at ORU, the Towers Lobby, known as the Fishbowl, is a favorite place to hang out on campus. It is located between the two male Towers dorms and the two female ones.

School Slang
  • The Fishbowl: The lobby located between the four Towers dorms. The fishbowl has glass exterior walls, a few HDTVs, ping-pong tables, foosball tables, pool table, a lot of furniture, bathrooms, and some vending machines.
  • Saga: The cafeteria. It used to be owned by a company named Saga, and the name stuck. Now it is run Sodexo.
  • Wing-cest: This is when a guy dates a woman who lives on his corresponding sister wing. It is frowned upon, even though a lot of people do it.
  • Guts Fight Night: Guts Church has an annual Fight Night. Hundreds of students show up every year to watch fellow classmates box it out!
  • Guts Nightmare: Every year Guts Church has a haunted house set up to "scare the hell out of you."
  • Wing Banquet: Every year, brother/sister wings have a wing banquet.
Urban Legends
Many people have been told that the three CityPlex Towers across the street from campus represent the dimensions of Noah's Ark in the Bible. These rumors are false.
