3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Professor often failed to communicate properly about homework.

They are often inconsistent in grading.

Most of the teachers are passionate about the subject matter they teach.

Overall Experience: Nursing majors are almost guaranteed a job upon graduation.

Campus Housing: We pay a lot of money to stay in the dorms, but the facilities are quite poor in quality. Often times, we would spend the night freezing in our dorm rooms, because the heating only turns on if it's been around 50 degrees for a long period of time. The hot water would stop working. The showers would fail to drain water and start flooding. There was water damage that leaked onto the carpet. The rooms are tiny, and the fridges don't fit much food. I love living on campus, simply because it makes it easier to spend time with friends and get to class on time. But there are challenges.

Athletics: The university always encourages and reminds the student body to dress up in school colors, make signs, etc to cheer on our impressive athletic teams. I wish intramural sports were taken more seriously, and perhaps it just seems as if they are not because I'm a female freshman, which is unfortunate, but overall, school pride is evident at ORU.

Overall Experience: I love Oral Roberts University. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world. I love living on campus, attending games, having study sessions wit friends, and attending chapel events. But it can be sad when not everyone is likeminded in Christ. Sometimes, it seems as if the Holy Spirit class, and the way the president asks people to speak in tongues during prayer time make people feel like they have to conjure up some encounter with the Holy Spirit, when they are actually not experiencing Him at all. These should be instances that naturally come from the believer; they should not simply appear when it is asked of them. Many of the general ed classes seem to be a waste of time, often times I attend the Holy Spirit class or the Survey of the Old Testament, and know I could have easily skipped and not missed anything.

In addition, If ORU is going to attract more students globally, the facilities need to be updated. The dorms, and many classroom look outdated and are malfunctioning.

All in all, I do enjoy attending ORU, but there is much that could be improved upon.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have enjoyed my experience there, however even with my great financial aid package my family and I still could not afford for me to attend. Therefore, I am needing to seek another way to continue my education.

Overall Experience: I've had the pleasure of spending 3 years here so far. The professors are enriching and really care, the people are understanding and really do want to change the world, and the housing experience has been perfect. I'm in the honors program, and that's been one of the best decisions I've made here. We are able to do so many meaningful things in the community outreach and still have plenty of time to do whatever we want. The reputation of the past has been that it's a strict school, and this has lessened dramatically. There are still rules in place, but they are there to protect us and to keep the environment at ORU wholesome; maturing us into making great decisions for the rest of our lives. I would highly recommend this school, and I couldn't see myself going anywhere else.

2 College Junior

Overall Experience: The school doesn't tell you about the Honor Code you have to sign. This code entitles you to follow rules that they don't tell you about. Not being able to live off campus unless your married or 25 really makes it hard to be social and hangout off campus. Required to attend church twice a week. You get three misses then after that they charge you a fee for missing. Very strict school.

Overall Experience: I loved being a student athlete and getting involved with community outreach on the weekends!

There's so many ways to get involved and I think would chose it again because of the people I have gotten to meet.

Overall Experience: My favorite aspects of Oral Roberts include emphasis on whole person development (spirit, mind, body), rigorous yet compassionate professors, fun student life activities, and an overall optimistic and friendly atmosphere. Minor things like dress code and drinking policy annoy me, but its altogether worthwhile because ORU teaches a healthy and responsible adult lifestyle.

Overall Experience: My experience at ORU has been amazing so far. Since, I've been there, I've grown tremendously physically, mentally, socially, academically, and spiritually. Both the students and faculty have great hearts for life, people, and their field of study. I have met countless people who I believe without a doubt will change the world, and it has inspired me to do the same.

Athletics: Cheerleading and Dancing should be considered a sport. Cheerleaders and dancers work just as hard as a baseball player or basketball player. They get hurt and they are very strong. I would like to see a basketball player try to dance like I do.

Off-Campus Housing: I live on campus so I don't know that much about living off campus. The good thing about living off campus is you save money from the dorm life. The had thing is you can't experience brother/sister wings and you have to drive to school evryday.

Nearly everyone at ORU said that if they had to make their college decision all over again, they would still choose this university. Students give high marks to the strong Christian community here, and say that the professors and students are approachable, kind, and helpful. Another positive is the size of the school—it’s easy enough to get personal attention from the teachers, but the school is still large enough that you’ll regularly be able to meet lots of new, unique people.

Overall, Oral Roberts University is a great place for anyone who has a strong desire to become spiritually awake, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, professionally competent, and socially adept!
