Weather: The weather change is very expected and frequent. It could be hot one day and chilly and breezy the next.

Guys & Girls: Good Picks – There are many guys and girls available, and it may even seem like people come here to find a future mate. There are many good picks for those who are searching.

Diversity: If there is one school known for its diversity, it would be Oral Roberts University. There are students not from just around the country but from all around the world. There is no issue with diversity and it seems as though everyone is friendly and welcome.

Drug Safety: I didn't see anyone here using drugs at all. I mean there may be some, but I never really meet anyone who uses them. At least all the friends I know never touch drugs.

Party Scene: Dutch Blitz Time – Well, I don't go off campus during the night. Most of my night time is spent studying in my room. Sometimes my friends call me down to the main hall to play a Dutch Blitz game with them. I like that game a lot and we had so much fun hanging out there with each other. I love to spend my time like that.

Campus Food: Saga's Food – The food is fine overall. Most of the time, however, the food was just okay, and I didn't really enjoy it at all. When it was parent's weekend, the food improved, but it was so crowed in the dining hall that I didn't want to go.

Technology: State of the Art – Great network reliability, but printing on campus is limited.

Overall Experience: If You're an Active Christian, and Don't Mind the Price Tag, It's an Amazing School. There's definitely a strong Christian presence at ORU, and I really love it! If you are Christian and your faith is important to you, you will be right at home. Of course, not everyone here is active in their faith, but I'd say that the majority is and it makes for a very welcoming and friendly environment. Although if you are the kind of person who hates rules you might not like the fact that there is curfew, mandatory chapel twice a week, limited open dorms, and fairly strict dress code (in comparison to other schools). Personally, I think that it teaches respect, discipline, and encourages Christian behavior. And, well, if you're going to pay the big price tag to go to ORU, you should probably be an active Christian. I do love how they do devotions as a wing, as well as other fun wing activities. I have met some amazing people here, from all over the world.

Health & Safety: Pretty Safe – I always feel pretty safe around campus, although if walking to the Aerobics Center at night I would prefer to go with other people since the campus is fairly spread out. I have heard of laptops being stolen on occasion and there was an incident in the parking lot last year with someone suspicious coming on campus and getting past security by following another car in, but overall it feels quite safe. But girls, be smart and don't go to the Walmart across the street at night.

Local Area: Some Find It Boring – Tulsa doesn't offer a ton of things to do, but the people are super nice and if willing to be creative, college students always find something to do. The dollar theater is a popular place to go. Riverwalk is somewhere you should go at least once, and the Philbrook Museum is gorgeous!

Parking: The permits are a bit expensive, but you don't need a car on campus. Parking is always available, but you may have a bit of a walk to your classes depending on what time you get there, although there is a lot on both sides of the campus.

Off-Campus Housing: I Love Life Off Campus – My wife and I live off campus. She works down the road and I walk to school every day. It's about a 15-minute walk through a nice field or along the sidewalk, whichever way I choose for the day. Our apartment is right across the street from Wal-Mart, and right next to a plaza where there's a coffee shop and several restaurants (wings, Thai, deli, breakfast). The rent is REALLY cheap, parking is readily available, our landlords are friendly and offer coffee/cookies/social events frequently, and it's in a very safe part of Tulsa-it's not right inside the city but on the outskirts, so the most trouble we've ever had is some people partying at the pool next to us. Our laundry facility is within a 30-second walk from the apartment, and there's a free fitness room too, which has been great.

Campus Quality: The campus itself is very modern and has incredible architecture. There is always something going on, whether you are a commuter or you live in the dorms. The athletic center is huge and has something for just about everyone-if you're married you can also bring your spouse (for a minimal fee). The student body and professors are very warm and welcoming as well, which is one of the best things about the school.

Transportation: When it comes to breaks, like summer and winter breaks, our school transportation is great for providing shuttles to the airport. On a normal basis, though, our school does not have any transportation to get the students off campus to places like Walmart and Target or the mall.

Administration: The Rules – The biggest policy most people have a problem with here is the fact that neither boys or girls are allowed in the other's dorms. The other biggest policy would be our curfew. Most people think there shouldn't be one, but it's not that bad. Our curfew is 1:30 a.m. every day. Drugs (including cigarettes) and alcohol are not allowed on campus at all for any reason.

Off-Campus Dining: Well I don't get off campus much, but when I do there are more than enough dining options available.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: We have an amazing campus scenery, and our campus really shows the wonderful works and love of God.

Campus Housing: I would say that it is average to live on campus, but I think it would be cheaper to live in an apartment.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: This university is a Christian one. It's so great being around other Christians and having rules and regulations so things and people don't get out of hand.

5 College Freshman

Campus Food: There is a huge variety of food. You can basically get anything you want, anytime you want. It's great!

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drugs and Alcohol Are Very Limited – ORU is very particular about drugs and alcohol on campus. They are almost nonexistent. ORU has a strong policy against both and neither are permitted on the grounds of the University.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: ORU is a Christian school so most people would classify themselves so. However, it is very ethnically diverse. More than 50 worldwide countries are represented on the campus. Thus, everyone is very accepting of different cultures and backgrounds.

3 College Freshman

Campus Quality: ORU has decent places for students to hang out. Our athletic center is nice. There is only one fast food place, but it is closed on Sunday, making it hard to find food on campus without leaving.

Overall Experience: I Couldn't Ask for a Better School! I just love being on campus surrounded by my friends, going to class, and sitting at the coffee shops while studying for a test. Every day, I'm excited to see what type of fun I will have during school. I love to meet new people and enjoy the outdoors while walking to each of my classes.

4 College Student

Party Scene: We Have to Use Your Creativity for Fun – I'm really not the type of person who likes to go to clubs, unless there is a salsa party downtown. I don't go to bars unless they're very chic bars, like Cosmos. My girlfriends and I love to go to Cosmos and spend all night talking. There are a lot of artistic coffee shops that have great music and a great environment to just relax from a stressful week. Every month our school does salsa parties to raise money for missions or local outreaches, and hundreds of people come to these events because they are so much fun.

Nearly everyone at ORU said that if they had to make their college decision all over again, they would still choose this university. Students give high marks to the strong Christian community here, and say that the professors and students are approachable, kind, and helpful. Another positive is the size of the school—it’s easy enough to get personal attention from the teachers, but the school is still large enough that you’ll regularly be able to meet lots of new, unique people.

Overall, Oral Roberts University is a great place for anyone who has a strong desire to become spiritually awake, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, professionally competent, and socially adept!
