Health & Safety: Clean and Safe – I've never felt secure living anywhere as much as I do at Oral Roberts University. It is a smaller campus but everything is well watched even during non-school hours. Everyone is very understanding and always there to help no matter what the problem is.

Local Area: Best Place I've Ever Been – The atmosphere here is full of the presence of God and the peace of God.

5 College Senior

Drug Safety: No Drugs – All students sign an honor code stating that they won't drink or smoke or do drugs. I've never heard of any problems with drugs.

4 College Senior

Diversity: There is a lot of diversity at ORU. There are a lot of international students. I don't feel like there is a race more predominant than another.

Off-Campus Housing: Great Location and Housing Options – There are a lot of good apartments in the area around the school. I live a one-minute driving distance away. Most apartments are gated communities and the area where the school is located is the nice part of the city. Parking is very reasonable, and I always arrive like five minutes before class, not earlier.

Overall Experience: Great Family and Fun – Oral Roberts University is wonderful. I came here knowing no one, and I never felt alone or lost. I have met people that I consider family and will be lifelong friends. It is not all fun and studying is a requirement, but it is worth it. I got lost my first year, but from there on I realized it was a good environment. I have grown both personally and spiritually, and I am glad to have stayed at this university.

Athletics: Health Is a Top Priority – At Oral Roberts University, there is a variety of sports, but the only thing that is missing is there is no football team. The sports that are available on campus are very supported and they have very dedicated fans. There are fun pre-game activities and the students are continually encouraged to go and notified of both home and away games. There are also many facilities for students to workout and be athletic and there are many intramural activities for them to participate in.

4 College Junior

Academics: I came to Oral Roberts University for the Christian atmosphere and because the variety of majors was very good. The professors are very approachable, and they are open for both educational problems and for personal problems in an appropriate way. There can be good discussions had with the students. The business department has been given many recognitions, and it is the biggest department in the school. The workload is heavy at times but never too much to handle.

Weather: The weather change is very expected and frequent. It could be hot one day and chilly and breezy the next.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Good Picks – There are many guys and girls available, and it may even seem like people come here to find a future mate. There are many good picks for those who are searching.

Diversity: If there is one school known for its diversity, it would be Oral Roberts University. There are students not from just around the country but from all around the world. There is no issue with diversity and it seems as though everyone is friendly and welcome.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I didn't see anyone here using drugs at all. I mean there may be some, but I never really meet anyone who uses them. At least all the friends I know never touch drugs.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Dutch Blitz Time – Well, I don't go off campus during the night. Most of my night time is spent studying in my room. Sometimes my friends call me down to the main hall to play a Dutch Blitz game with them. I like that game a lot and we had so much fun hanging out there with each other. I love to spend my time like that.

Campus Food: Saga's Food – The food is fine overall. Most of the time, however, the food was just okay, and I didn't really enjoy it at all. When it was parent's weekend, the food improved, but it was so crowed in the dining hall that I didn't want to go.

Technology: State of the Art – Great network reliability, but printing on campus is limited.

Overall Experience: If You're an Active Christian, and Don't Mind the Price Tag, It's an Amazing School. There's definitely a strong Christian presence at ORU, and I really love it! If you are Christian and your faith is important to you, you will be right at home. Of course, not everyone here is active in their faith, but I'd say that the majority is and it makes for a very welcoming and friendly environment. Although if you are the kind of person who hates rules you might not like the fact that there is curfew, mandatory chapel twice a week, limited open dorms, and fairly strict dress code (in comparison to other schools). Personally, I think that it teaches respect, discipline, and encourages Christian behavior. And, well, if you're going to pay the big price tag to go to ORU, you should probably be an active Christian. I do love how they do devotions as a wing, as well as other fun wing activities. I have met some amazing people here, from all over the world.

Health & Safety: Pretty Safe – I always feel pretty safe around campus, although if walking to the Aerobics Center at night I would prefer to go with other people since the campus is fairly spread out. I have heard of laptops being stolen on occasion and there was an incident in the parking lot last year with someone suspicious coming on campus and getting past security by following another car in, but overall it feels quite safe. But girls, be smart and don't go to the Walmart across the street at night.

Local Area: Some Find It Boring – Tulsa doesn't offer a ton of things to do, but the people are super nice and if willing to be creative, college students always find something to do. The dollar theater is a popular place to go. Riverwalk is somewhere you should go at least once, and the Philbrook Museum is gorgeous!

Parking: The permits are a bit expensive, but you don't need a car on campus. Parking is always available, but you may have a bit of a walk to your classes depending on what time you get there, although there is a lot on both sides of the campus.

Off-Campus Housing: I Love Life Off Campus – My wife and I live off campus. She works down the road and I walk to school every day. It's about a 15-minute walk through a nice field or along the sidewalk, whichever way I choose for the day. Our apartment is right across the street from Wal-Mart, and right next to a plaza where there's a coffee shop and several restaurants (wings, Thai, deli, breakfast). The rent is REALLY cheap, parking is readily available, our landlords are friendly and offer coffee/cookies/social events frequently, and it's in a very safe part of Tulsa-it's not right inside the city but on the outskirts, so the most trouble we've ever had is some people partying at the pool next to us. Our laundry facility is within a 30-second walk from the apartment, and there's a free fitness room too, which has been great.

Campus Quality: The campus itself is very modern and has incredible architecture. There is always something going on, whether you are a commuter or you live in the dorms. The athletic center is huge and has something for just about everyone-if you're married you can also bring your spouse (for a minimal fee). The student body and professors are very warm and welcoming as well, which is one of the best things about the school.

Transportation: When it comes to breaks, like summer and winter breaks, our school transportation is great for providing shuttles to the airport. On a normal basis, though, our school does not have any transportation to get the students off campus to places like Walmart and Target or the mall.

4 College Student

Administration: The Rules – The biggest policy most people have a problem with here is the fact that neither boys or girls are allowed in the other's dorms. The other biggest policy would be our curfew. Most people think there shouldn't be one, but it's not that bad. Our curfew is 1:30 a.m. every day. Drugs (including cigarettes) and alcohol are not allowed on campus at all for any reason.

4 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: Well I don't get off campus much, but when I do there are more than enough dining options available.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: We have an amazing campus scenery, and our campus really shows the wonderful works and love of God.

Nearly everyone at ORU said that if they had to make their college decision all over again, they would still choose this university. Students give high marks to the strong Christian community here, and say that the professors and students are approachable, kind, and helpful. Another positive is the size of the school—it’s easy enough to get personal attention from the teachers, but the school is still large enough that you’ll regularly be able to meet lots of new, unique people.

Overall, Oral Roberts University is a great place for anyone who has a strong desire to become spiritually awake, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, professionally competent, and socially adept!
