3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: There are many great places to eat. There is also many great activities such as bowling, movies, or basketball games.

Guys & Girls: The guys are fun and incredibly talented musically. There are also many great athletes at ORU. The guys also love God a whole lot. The girls at ORU are more cute than they are hot. But a girl is made to look more attractive when she loves Jesus so that is important to note.

Diversity: I was born and raised in Guatemala. My father is a Guatemalan and my mom is a North American. I have been accepted and treated as a peer here at Oral Roberts University. There has been no distinction made by any professor, staff member or fellow student. There is a great diversity of students in regards to ethnic and racial background but there has been no bias shown at any level that I have observed.

Off-Campus Dining: There are several good restaurants new the campus which is good since many students do not have their own transportation. Most of the restaurants cater to the college age students so their prices and hours are very accommodating. McAlisters is very popular since it is walking distance from the campus and has a laid-back atmosphere and quick service.

Drug Safety: A very small population of students do drugs. You hear people talk about drugs, but I have never personally known or even met any of the people who partake. Drinking is much more popular.

Parking: Oral Robert's has several parking lots that you can easily find parking spots in. Security is always monitoring the lots to keep everything safe. The parking lot is close to campus and convenient.

Campus Housing: I am a first year ORU student living in Claudius, and loving every minute of it. Claudius is the oldest and least spacious dorm hall, but the most social and fun. Campus life is kind of divided depending on which dorms you live in, but it is easy to make friends and find things to do with everyone and anyone. Social life on campus is good overall, but there are a ton of cliques. A lot of the upperclassmen are happy with and set in their ways and not always willing or open to letting others into their circle of friends.

Campus Food: There are several meal plans to chose from with varying numbers of meals and Sodexo bucks. I have heard complaints about the food in the dining hall, but unless you are a picky eater there are always many options. I personally don't have a problem with any of the food that the dining hall (referred to as "Saga" by the students) serves and often enjoy my meals there. Between classes, you can grab something from the Deli, Starbucks, or Freshens Smoothies. There is also a Chickfila, another smoothie place, and an Internet Cafe in the student center by the dorms, which are popular places to grab food late at night.

Technology: The computer labs are often available and there are always free computers. Unless you or a friend have your own printer, you have to go to the business center to print and pay for the copies you print. It is still inexpensive and not too inconvenient, but it is better to make friends with people with printers. Almost everyone has their own computer available. The internet in the dorms is slow and I almost always lose access to the wifi during evenings and weekends since that is when everyone is trying to get on.

Majors: There Are Many Options – There are plenty of options and for the most part all professors are very willing to work with you.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Lots of Walking – It's great workout. Not too spread out but there is a good amount of walking.

2 College Freshman

Party Scene: Plain and Simple – There is not too much to do around campus at night. There is occasional activities organized but otherwise you really need to have a car to get off campus.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Internship Plan – I am not too worried about finding an internship but I am interested in working at research center. The golden eagle hire network has many connections here in Tulsa.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: My First Year Experince – I absolutely loved my year at ORU. The community of students and faculty was such a good way to start out my experience as my own person. Everyone is full of life and love for each other and for the community. There is never a dull moment there and I love every moment. Yes, even finals week. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it exactly the same.

Parking: Auto Travel – The proximity of the town is very close, within walking distance so there is no NEED for a vehicle. It is nice however to have one. Parking costs are very, very low and fines are reasonable according to violation. Parking is never a problem because of the large amount of spaces for resident students and commuters.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: ORU has a very well equipped team of financial advisers who are willing to help you get what you need.

Health & Safety: Saga is our cafeteria. I come in, sit my things down, and find a bite to eat. I can sit my phone down and be away from the tables for a very lengthy time and no for a fact that it's going to be there when I get back. I'm never worried about things being stolen. I leave my room door opened and have not a care in the world.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Soccer Games! I played soccer in high school and so I was excited when I found that we had a soccer team at ORU. The home games are always exciting. The fans are super supportive. It feels like a social event.

5 College Sophomore

Parking: I have never found an issue with parking. Our parking lot is pretty substantial for the amount of cars we have, so there really isn't an issue. Just pull in and park.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: It Depends. It depends on your personality I guess. Are you a social butterfly or a studious person or in between? There's a dorm for each.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: On-Campus Living Is Preferred. The only reason people do live off campus is because they are a commuter or married or a graduate.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Not Too Shabby. I feel it's a little rough in any university. ORU is always doing what it can though. It's not the best in the world but I'm thankful for what I do get. Plus the people are really understanding and helpful.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: We Have an Honor Code – Everyone signs an honor code pledging not to partake in such things as drugs and as long as I've been here I've never seen it. But I could be wrong, I mean I guess if you hang with the wrong crowd it could be possible.

5 College Freshman

Academics: So Friendly – The profs at ORU are some of the most genuine people i've ever met. With this being my first time in Tulsa and first time at the school this year they've done everything they can to make me feel at home. They always have their doors open and can help you with any thing from class assignments to dorm problems to dating debauchles.

Off-Campus Dining: Cherry Berry – Cherry Berry is located in the square directly across the street from ORU- making it within walking distance. Cherry Berry is a self create frozen yogurt diner. It's affordable and delicious. PLLUUUSS with your ORU student ID the first 3 oz are free!- those 3 oz can go a long ways when you're broke

Nearly everyone at ORU said that if they had to make their college decision all over again, they would still choose this university. Students give high marks to the strong Christian community here, and say that the professors and students are approachable, kind, and helpful. Another positive is the size of the school—it’s easy enough to get personal attention from the teachers, but the school is still large enough that you’ll regularly be able to meet lots of new, unique people.

Overall, Oral Roberts University is a great place for anyone who has a strong desire to become spiritually awake, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, professionally competent, and socially adept!
