Diversity: Diversity is one of the best things about ORU. A student's time at this university yields him a wide number of friendships with people from completely different cultures. There are people of wealthier and more common classes alike. Every person has a different story; my closest friends come from wildly contrasted families and backgrounds. Hearing their stories and celebrating our differences together is one of the greatest aspects of attending this institution.

Drug Safety: Drug and alcohol use is prohibited during one's time attending Oral Roberts University. Unfortunately, it is well known that many ORU students go out to get drunk and high, but at least on school grounds, there is practically no signs of substance abuse because there is no access. Students who may be caught using drugs or alcohol may immediately be expelled, therefore peer pressure is hardly issue, given the consequences.

Overall Experience: The courses offered at ORU are very diverse. We can have a wide range of knowledge in various areas. The class room size for the most part is very small. There are some classes that have hundreds of students in them, but they always have a smaller class size during the week to break up into to discuss what has been covered. The Professors are very nice and passionate about what they teach, and are always willing to help in any way they can. The overall classroom experience is quite pleasant.

Overall Experience: ORU has connections around the world. Many employers want to hire ORU grads for their integrity in work and ability to work. ORU strives to help its students make connections to help in the future. ORU is world famous, so there are a lot of places for people to find jobs, whether over seas or domestic.

Campus Housing: There are good choices for dorms on campus. We have a more spacious and quiet dormitory for more expensive and a less spacious and more involved dormitory for less expenses. The social atmosphere in the dorms are great! I feel as if our section in the dorm is a brotherhood. The dorms are not conveniently spaced close to the school buildings because the founder wanted us to get some exercise and discipline our selves with patience on the way to class. He believed in developing our spirit, mind, and body.

Athletics: There are always students involved in athletics at ORU, but not everyone gets involved. At most home games there is a lot of school spirit and fan support, as well as alumni support. ORU has made a name for themselves in certain sports and because of it, the popularity of the sport has grown on campus. We also have great sport facilities and are currently building more.

Overall Experience: My overall experience at Oral Roberts University has been phenomenal in many ways! I love its chapels and the Christian and diverse community that on the ORU campus. My school is unique because everywhere you turn, there are people acknowledging you and being friendly, and that is not usual on every campus. If i could go back in time and choose a college, I would choose ORU with a definite yes because it has taught me how to grow up on my own and pushed me beyond where I thought I could go.

Diversity: Ethnic/racial diversity

- fantastic! There are quite a number of international students, and many students of different races and cultures from around the country. Most people are friendly and open/ready to learn from, and about, each other's backgrounds and cultures.

Economic background diversity

- Hugely diverse. You will hear talk about spoiled people, but in reality there is a very wide range when it comes to economic diversity on campus, and the majority of students are using at least the main Whole Person Scholarship, which is applied to through the school

Political beliefs

- being in the south, many student's politics generally lean Republican, with some Moderates, Independents, and Democrats in the minority. However, because of the friendly atmosphere on campus, this is usually not an issue that blocks people from building meaningful relationships. There will always be sparks with politics, but again, many people remain open to productive discussion, and both Republican and Democrat clubs exist on campus for those who want to become more involved (I don't think there is an Independent club as of now).

Religion

- a Christian college that really is a Christian college

Sexual Orientation

- genuinely doesn't come up in conversation

Drug Safety: It's the best, as in it's pretty much nonexistent. Really don't have to worry about that kind of pressure or usage here. I think there is a zero-tolerance policy in place

Overall Experience: The professors are outstanding! I absolutely cannot brag on them enough. Of course there have been one or two I wasn't personally wild about, but that was more of clashing personality/learning style issue than a reflection on their qualifications. Every professor so far has been passionate about their subject, well- or over-qualified to teach it, and genuinely wants the students to succeed. All have had either open or scheduled office hours, which they encourage students to use to better understand the subject matter.

As someone who had never particularly enjoyed previous educational experiences (in high school and college), I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I can truly say I enjoy and am challenged by the courses in my field of study here.

Overall Experience: The career center regularly puts on career fairs, many professors encourage and help connect students with internship opportunities, and most graduates are able to find jobs after graduation. There are well built relationships between a number of businesses, both small and large.

Health & Safety: It is definitely a safe campus, especially with the relatively low amount of people drinking, and little to no out of control parties or drug issues to worry about. There are very few safety issues as far as I know. As a general, unfortunate, common-sense rule, women should probably still avoid walking alone at night as much as possible, but on campus safety is something that is rarely worried about. Off campus, particularly at the nearest Walmart, is another matter.

Campus Housing: All are card-access only along with other security measures

Most Chill (Women's): Gabby

$$ - $$$

Furthest from "core" class room buildings, one of the closest to parking, closest to theater, dance, and music areas. Downstairs kitchen, small workout room, very chill/quiet non-traditional students w/ private rooms on first floor. Small/medium sized common room, can bring (appropriate) video games or movies to play on TV with friends. Individual or private rooms with private bathrooms or large closets

Most Social/Loud/Young (Women's): Claudius

$$

Closest to cafeteria, close to Hammer center (very bright, modern building that includes games, sometimes events, entertainment, study area, late night food/coffee) and prayer gardens, has small chapel on first floor. Large windows, frequently hear about noise issues late at night. Fairly small entry/common area.

Craziest/Youngest (Men's): EMR

$$

Also closest to cafeteria, close to parking and music building. Large windows. Is no longer is allowed a kitchen. Random items occasionally found in trees outside building - funny, crazy, or awful stories frequently come out of here.

Towers (Men's / Women's)

$$ - $$$

(Don't know much about these)

Has common room area to hang out, closest to greenhouse, some are closer to parking, some are closer to baseball stadium/AC. Not far from cafeteria. Heard one of the men's towers is known as the "chill" men's dorm on campus

Greek Life: Greek life, and the issues, stress, and division Greek life brings, is a non-issue on this campus because it doesn't exist

Athletics: In the upcoming school year I believe student involvement with athletics will greatly increase due to plans that will hopefully be put into play by the next student body president. Currently attendance is average to low, with baseball, soccer, and men's basketball being the more popular sporting events to attend. The baseball and track teams in particular have had a phenomenal line up of athletes this year.

Athletics: They take great pride in athletics here at ORU!

Overall Experience: I feel like with the amount of money I am paying and all the loans I am taking out, the living arrangements and campus should be more up to date.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Aside from the room stacking in the main buildings (ie. its easier to get a room with a roommate than an unused room, even if the floor has multiple rooms unused on a floor.) the rooms are nice for the most part. Furniture can be a bit of a pain due to the odd shape of the room. The ethernet is an excellent plus however and is consistently good. (the wifi comes and goes depending on the ). The sliding doors in the wesley dorms to the balcony would be really nice to use, except people kept falling off of them, so they were bolted shut. Plenty of power outlets.

My only complaint about the rules is that no candles/open flames/burning things, as the buildings are older.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Aside from the required courses that are implemented for students, I don't have a huge amount of experience involved with the athletics programs. However, the facility provided is maintained very well.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It is thoroughly enjoyable. very little is handed to you, but if you put in work, they will usually go out of their way to work with you.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: We are not allowed under any circumstances are allowed to take or do drugs here. We have a very strict honor code.

Health & Safety: Our campus is a really safe place.

Overall Experience: The professors here pray before class starts and before we have to take a test. The size for the class is fairly reasonable.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: They don't offer enough of the courses for my major.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: We really need to update the housing here instead of building new buildings.

Nearly everyone at ORU said that if they had to make their college decision all over again, they would still choose this university. Students give high marks to the strong Christian community here, and say that the professors and students are approachable, kind, and helpful. Another positive is the size of the school—it’s easy enough to get personal attention from the teachers, but the school is still large enough that you’ll regularly be able to meet lots of new, unique people.

Overall, Oral Roberts University is a great place for anyone who has a strong desire to become spiritually awake, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, professionally competent, and socially adept!
