Campus Quality: We are about to get a brand new student center that will provide lots of new places for students to hang out. The architecture is very cool and space-age looking (don't forget the praying hands). It is older, but they do a good job of keeping the buildings remodeled and fresh. Almost everything is located in one building, the GC and LRC, which makes getting to class pretty easy. Our athletic center is a good size, the prayer gardens are nice for studying and being alone, and there are lots of fun events and traditions here at ORU that make the ORU experience one-of-a-kind.

Weather: The weather is pretty unpredictable, and it can get annoying trying to predict what it is going to be like.

Campus Quality: The campus is a unique and interesting one. The buildings are truly one of a kind. They are all rather nice, and have been regularly updated. The only thing that has been lacking is an actual student center, but the University is in the process of building and opening one sometime next semester. The one thing that drives everyone crazy on campus is the fact that the sidewalks never go straight to the buildings but are rather random and take you out of the way.

Local Area: Tulsa is a unique and confused city. It has a town feel to it, but is still a larger city. The city itself doesn't have much to offer, and you have to be creative in finding stuff to do. The only thing open after about 9 or 10 pm is clubs and bars. The city is rather square with not much available. Granted, you can find fun stuff every now and then. Once you have done it all, its not worth doing again, and Tulsa is a pretty boring place.

Health & Safety: I feel safe no matter what time of day it is on campus. It is advisable to keep your door locked but there are rarely problems if you forgo that.

Academics: As an art education major I love the smallness of the program as it lets you really get to know your peers, at the same time its a drawback because many of my professors double up on classes limited the diversity. They are of a very high caliber, however Diversity would be nice.

Local Area: There's not much that truly sets Tulsa apart like the people. The people here are generally more friendly than in the rest of the U.S. Many people end up sticking around for a while after college due to the low cost of living and low gas prices. There are plenty of quirks in Oklahoma that are within easy driving distance of Tulsa making it a great place to be.

Majors: I've spent about 50 hours already doing practicums which are a type of internship. They are unpaid and require the student to provide their own transportation. They are incredibly beneficial because they help a student get into the classroom before they begin student teaching and allow you to become more comfortable with the classroom. Responsibilities are minimal and include duties akin to a TA, grading projects, helping setup classrooms and one on one assistance with students.

Campus Quality: Well the campus is built in a unique where each structure has its own little story to tell or has a meaning. A building here is not just built because it can be, it has a purpose just like the students. The student life is amazing here. No matter who you are or your background, you have a place on campus at least somewhere. There are various clubs, outreach programs and intramural sports that can keep a student going so they just don't sit around and do nothing. The faculty is here because they want to be here with the students to see them succeed in not just life but other matters. No matter how much you hear about strict Christian universities, this one is not like those rumors you hear everywhere.

Scholarships: The financial aid process although tedious was pleasent because the staff worked their hardest to help me get the aid I needed.

Campus Quality: What sets ORU apart is the people who make up faculty, staff and student body. The people are amongst the most godly people I have ever met. No one, is perfect and you will see plenty of human error, but the heart and intentions of the people here are truly something special. ORU is imperfect but it strives for excellence and to become better then they are. Academically, ORU holds to a high standard of quality. There is some variation form teacher to teacher, and department to department. On the whole ORU is exceptional.

Campus Quality: The aesthetics on campus are unique but provide a number of pleasing views. The interior is often a bit aged but very well maintained. And the campus is in the process of upgrading many of its faculties. The largest is the construction of a new student center. This will include a large social area, four restaurants, and study areas. The athletics Center is nice, with a full free weight room, a large machine weight room, which also includes many aerobic machine, such as treadmills and the like and an indoor track. There are three full sized basketball courts, which double as volleyball courts, four racket ball courts and an abnormally large pool. There is also an outdoor path for running and outdoor volleyball court. The campus's gardens are very well maintained. These all center around the prayer garden which is a fantastic space, utilized for a number of events. The Library is in the process of receiving some major updates. It has a somewhat age collection, but phenomenal online database and the ability to pull in books from other libraries. If you are wanting christian works, this library is a fanatic place to look. They just added a state of the art children library. The school also has the Holy Spirit Lab which hold a large amount of historical material dating back, in some cases, over a century.

Diversity: ORU has, although largely white, has a notable sense of multiculturalism. This ranges from a the many international students here, to the minority cultures on campus. There is a growing Hispanic populations on campus. These students integrate well, but they have full access tot eh Hispanic center, which is there as a support t for Hispanic students in any number of areas. There is also large and rich African American community on campus, which finds its greatest expression in the legendary Souls of Fire Gospel Choir. This choir is not strictly African American. It is in reality a very healthy mix of African American, Hispanic, white and others. However, it us a place to thoroughly experience the best of the black culture.

Being biblical christian university, there is not a gay community on campus. Although eh students are certainly here, it is not a lifestyle choice supported or allowed by the university. If a student believes they are gay, they are asked to go to counseling. This is part of the amnesty policy which if you confidently tell floor leadership or the dean of men/women, they will want to talk to the student and make sure they are doing ok, and then keep them accountable to go to counseling on as regular a basis as the student is able. This policy extends to many areas. This is not an oppressive policy but rather the school attempt to show as much grace as they are able.

Academics: This school has the godliest staff I have ever encountered. Faculty honestly cares about the student body and will do what ever they can to ensure that their students succeed.

Campus Housing: There are six dorms to chose from: Claudius, EMR, Gabby, Francis, Susie, Michael, and Wesley. Claudius/EMR are the much more social dorms- they're great for freshmen who want to meet lots of people or for extroverted students who always love to have something going on (the rooms here are the smallest). Francis/Susie and Michael/Wesley are much more laid-back and are also quieter (their rooms are larger). Another girls dorm, Gabby, is much more secluded and has a reputation for being the "quiet, ultra-studious dorm"- but their rooms are much larger and newer.

Drug Safety: I haven't been going here for too long, but I've never encountered any drug/alcohol issues at school. I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could find the wrong crowd doing that stuff, but for the vast majority drugs/alcohol aren't an issue.

Diversity: ORU has so many international students it's so wonderful! Just a few nights ago I was hanging out with some friends and we counted 6 countries represented in our small group.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I really enjoy my study program. They offer a lot of opportunities to get involved in political things off campus and in the community. The classes prepare you for the feild you want to go to. The teachers and advisors are friendly and care. They want you to succeed!

Health & Safety: I always have felt safe on the campus. Security is visible everywhere and are very helpful whenever you need something.

Party Scene: Oral Roberts is a religious university so it is not a topic that is highlt encouraged on campus. The best night things that go on are like swing dancing, movies, and occasionally epic concerts.

5 College Senior

Academics: The psychology department is phenominal, and the teachers are excellent. They are always willing to go out of their way to help you and to make sure that you experience at ORU is great. They do not hesitate to offer great advice, and are easy to contact. The disscusions in class are always engaging and offer an inviting environment to get involved and active in class.

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: They do everything they can to help you pay for your school. I am very impresses by the Financial Aid office.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: There are many great places to eat. There is also many great activities such as bowling, movies, or basketball games.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: The guys are fun and incredibly talented musically. There are also many great athletes at ORU. The guys also love God a whole lot. The girls at ORU are more cute than they are hot. But a girl is made to look more attractive when she loves Jesus so that is important to note.

Diversity: I was born and raised in Guatemala. My father is a Guatemalan and my mom is a North American. I have been accepted and treated as a peer here at Oral Roberts University. There has been no distinction made by any professor, staff member or fellow student. There is a great diversity of students in regards to ethnic and racial background but there has been no bias shown at any level that I have observed.

Nearly everyone at ORU said that if they had to make their college decision all over again, they would still choose this university. Students give high marks to the strong Christian community here, and say that the professors and students are approachable, kind, and helpful. Another positive is the size of the school—it’s easy enough to get personal attention from the teachers, but the school is still large enough that you’ll regularly be able to meet lots of new, unique people.

Overall, Oral Roberts University is a great place for anyone who has a strong desire to become spiritually awake, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, professionally competent, and socially adept!
