4 College Senior

Administration: ORU is a private Christian university. We have a strict Honor Code regarding the consumption of drugs and alcohol on or off campus. Students are well-aware of this as early as the application process. No one who comes to ORU is unaware of its policies, and I believe that is fair. If you are made aware that you are not allowed to drink when you apply, then it is your choice whether or not you attend.

Campus Quality: I have found the overall atmosphere of this school be extremely encouraging in developing who I am and what I plan to do with my life. I am exited to be a Senior and blessed to be a part of this amazing University. This school's atmosphere is so uplifting and edifying, that it is impossible to leave here with doubts about who you are and what you are meant to do in this world. The facilities are top-notch and the professor's are known around the world in their fields. My only point of "chaffing" is with the physical requirements in their Health/Phys-Ed courses. While I still pass and am working on improving myself, they do require a lot from you. By a lot, I mean your commitment, your desire to better who you are, and the ability to control oneself. These are important skill-sets to have, which is why I still give ORU an "A" rating.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I'm a Social Work major and I love it. There a just a few professors in my major and they are outstanding. It's a small major, so I really get to know everyone.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Everyone is so helpful. The process is really easy. And if difficulties come up, there are always so many people to help.

4 College Freshman

Weather: the varying weather makes the campus experience more exciting

3 College Freshman

Athletics: i haven't been able to see many of the games but from the ones I've seen they are really good.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The Behavioral Sciences department is amazing. It is a joy to be a part of such an excellent department.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Campus life rocks. I have benefited greatly from living on campus, versus commuting.

4 College Freshman

Technology: The computers are out dated, but the printing facility is excellent.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: I think our school is unique and whole person focused.

2 College Junior

Parking: The tickets for parking in lower lot are unreasonable. They need to find a better policy for parking in lower lot as there are usually lots of empty spots. It would be great if there was a 2-hour limit parking ticket or something.

5 College Freshman

Majors: The faculty all want the very best for the students and are willing to pour a lot into them.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I found it very smooth and user friendly to begin my major.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Being a Bible School Transfer was different. I had to undergo applying as a High School Senior. I had to improve my ACT score not only for admission but to be elligible for Whole Person Scholarship in the Fall. The Admissions not only look at one's G.P.A, but their extra curricular activites: their active and past volunteering experience; how dedicated they are to education and growing: mentally, spiritually and physically. My advise for the future would be make it simpler for transfer and incoming students.

4 College Freshman

Technology: They have excellent computers, they let you bring your laptop. They let you choose which kind you prefer.

5 College Junior

Drug Safety: they try to combat the issue directly and do not allow alchohol or drugs

4 College Junior

Transportation: bus, personal car and shuttle for the end or beginning of the semester

5 College Junior

Diversity: there is diversity except when it comes to sexual orientation. Christian School.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I am a nursing major and I am very happy with my choice of both my major and my school. It is a hard major with intense courses, but I appreciate the help that the faculty has shown. My goal is to obtain a BSN and become an RN and eventually become a nurse practitioner.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The Nursing program at ORU is fantastic. The faculty is a body of dedicated professors and mentors who want to help students succeed and become the best nurses possible. Because the program has such high success rates, it is also extremely hard. The teachers will be tough on the students; they hold them to a very high standard. Tutoring is available, though, to help those who feel they are falling behind.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: ORU requires its undergrad students to live on campus unless they are granted special permission by the administration to live off campus. Normally, this is for married students or students with family close by. However, in recent years, it has begun to become a bit more relaxed and more students (typically upperclassmen) are starting to move off campus and live in apartments nearby, mainly because of the fact that it can be cheaper than living on campus and they get a bit more freedom (no more 1:30am curfew, cooking their own meals, more space, etc.)

5 College Freshman

Administration: Compared to a secular state school, ORU is probably one of the strictest campuses in the nation. All of it's students are forced to sign an honor code agreeing to no drinking, smoking, drugs, premarital sex, etc. Of course it's broken all the time, but things can easily be uncovered and intervention happens.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: ORU's got some great athletic teams. They're good about making sure students attend games and get involved in supporting the athletic programs.

4 College Freshman

Parking: You can buy a parking pass for $50 per school year. It pretty much guarantees that you'll always have a parking spot in the lot closest to the dorms. There's also a huge visitor parking lot with TONS of spaces. If you park in the lower lot, which is closest to the dorms where you cannot stay for more than a few hours, you run the risk of getting fined.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: There are campus patrol and there is security updates via email.

Nearly everyone at ORU said that if they had to make their college decision all over again, they would still choose this university. Students give high marks to the strong Christian community here, and say that the professors and students are approachable, kind, and helpful. Another positive is the size of the school—it’s easy enough to get personal attention from the teachers, but the school is still large enough that you’ll regularly be able to meet lots of new, unique people.

Overall, Oral Roberts University is a great place for anyone who has a strong desire to become spiritually awake, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, professionally competent, and socially adept!
