3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It's easy but you're gonna need a lot of financial aid if you're out-of-state.

2 College Sophomore

Transportation: You need your own car to get around.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: They don't have the best of food choices.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The experience can vary, but it is noticeably cheaper than staying on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: It is nicely structured until you go downstairs.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Most of the people are friendly and sociable.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: While it is not the best school (except for the school of business), it is a great atmosphere for Christians to go to school.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There's nothing special or interesting but it gets the job done.

5 College Senior

Health & Safety: Security takes their job seriously.

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus. I have never felt at risk or in danger. My health is not in question and ORU looks out for their students fantastically.

Campus Housing: Campus life is great and students make the atmosphere lively. The cost is a bit much, but students still pay it, so clearly it is not a big issue. Students love living on campus.

3 College Junior

Athletics: ORU's athletic teams are not incredible by any means, but all teams are solid programs and represent the university greatly. Students love the athletes and school spirit is strong.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love my school and would not change any of my past decisions concerning schooling. I would choose my school again, because I appreciate the mixture of Christianity and academics found in my classes. It is the greatest blessing.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are plenty of apartments in the surrounding area and houses that students can easily rent. I live at home, so I cannot speak to the cost, but Tulsa is low-cost living so I imagine it is not too bad.

4 College Junior

Administration: The strictness stems from the Honor Code signed by all students at the beginning of the year. It is strongly advised to live a respectful, Christian life. Because of this, rules are enforced strongly.

4 College Junior

Diversity: ORU is a charismatic university, so most are Christians. It stands to reason that the majority are conservative, Republican Christians. Also, I would guess almost all students are straight concerning sexual orientation. There are hundreds of international students as ORU is a very global university. It is a very diverse student body.

Academics: I am a theology major and I consider it a great honor. My professors have a deep knowledge of the Bible and a personal relationship with God. They care deeply for both the academic and spiritual aspects of a students' life. The classes offered and workload assigned create a great environment.

5 College Junior

Academics: The professors are all extremely committed to the well being of the students and their curriculums line up great with what they are teaching. The workload is for the most part fair and adequate as it pertains to each major. Resources are plentiful for studying. The academics are a strong suit of ORU.

5 College Junior

Majors: ORU offers a very diverse amount of majors. All are solid programs. I have had an internship with a church and it lines up with my major perfectly.

Weather: With the exception of two seasons, the weather presents no conflicts. The major problem areas are the winter and spring. Winter brings sometimes severe ice and snow storms, which Tulsa does not do the best job of handling. This affects driving and other everyday activities. Tornado season arrives in the spring and Tulsa is right in the middle of Tornado alley. These can be very dangerous and precaution is vital. It is only for a period of about a month and a half, but students must be constantly aware of the weather patterns.

Parking: Parking spots do fill up very quickly, so one has to get there fairly early if a good parking spot is desired. The distance from classes is not unreasonable compared to other colleges.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love the school, everyone is welcoming and ambitious. The teaching is thorough and interesting. I love going here.

Scholarships: Everyone was very helpful, and the scholarships I did receive were pretty fair, but tuition is rather high and I come from a low-income family, so I am taking on all of my debt myself.

Nearly everyone at ORU said that if they had to make their college decision all over again, they would still choose this university. Students give high marks to the strong Christian community here, and say that the professors and students are approachable, kind, and helpful. Another positive is the size of the school—it’s easy enough to get personal attention from the teachers, but the school is still large enough that you’ll regularly be able to meet lots of new, unique people.

Overall, Oral Roberts University is a great place for anyone who has a strong desire to become spiritually awake, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, professionally competent, and socially adept!
