5 College Freshman

Diversity: There are people here from all 50 states of the U.S. and from over 70 other countries, so I would say it's a pretty diverse campus.

Campus Housing: The atmosphere of ORU dorms in a nutshell:

Gabby - Quiet

Towers - Social

Claudius - Loud

EMR - Crazy

Weather: I come from another state (Texas), so having snow in the winter was a bit of a surprise. The wind here is no joke either, but thankfully the buildings aren't too far away so it sort of works out.

Scholarships: My advice for anyone thinking of this school would be to apply for the school's Whole Person Scholarship.

Academics: We here about the "Whole Person" education a lot, meaning students here are working towards getting the best of their mind, body, and spirit.

Health & Safety: I feel safer on campus than anywhere else in the city. I feel secure enough to walk to the student center at midnight to grab a soda without anything happening. I have yet to see any violent interactions between students or any visible presence of drug or alcohol use on campus.

Off-Campus Dining: I usually eat on campus, partly because of time, and partly because I do not have a car. From what I have heard there's the usual fast-food restaurants down the street, and I have seen a variety of local restaurants with some interesting choices.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: The aerobics center has satisfactory equipment to work out and play sports. As I am not an athlete myself, I cannot make any comments on how the athletes train.

College Freshman

Transportation: The campus is small enough that you can walk to each building in less than ten minutes.

3 College Freshman

Administration: strictness is okay because we have 1:30 curfew and no drugs or alcohol even if youre 21 still not allowed

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I know nothing about Greek at my school

Off-Campus Housing: My school doesn't allow off campus housing unless your married or get a petition through the Dean

Local Area: ORU is located in the wealthy part of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It really doesn't cater towards the youthful nightlife in the immediate vicinity. A short 20 minute drive will take students to a more active part of town.

Campus Housing: There are all kinds of dorms for girls to choose from. Towers offers spacious rooms and sense of community. Claudius has smaller rooms but a bigger social scene. Gabby provides private rooms and bathrooms. Each floor/hall has a brother wing. In chapel, sister wings sit with brother wings. Bathrooms are clean, well kept as are rooms. Gabby is the farthest from classes, but Claudius and Towers are a five minute walk to classes.

Guys & Girls: Oral Roberts University is a "ring by spring" college. Need I say more?

Drug Safety: There will always be the exception to the rule; someone will have some type of illegal substance. However, drugs are not popular on campus whatsoever.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Nearly everyone at ORU said that if they had to make their college decision all over again, they would still choose this university. Students give high marks to the strong Christian community here, and say that the professors and students are approachable, kind, and helpful. Another positive is the size of the school—it’s easy enough to get personal attention from the teachers, but the school is still large enough that you’ll regularly be able to meet lots of new, unique people.

Overall, Oral Roberts University is a great place for anyone who has a strong desire to become spiritually awake, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, professionally competent, and socially adept!
