Campus Housing: While i don't live on campus because i am a commuter, i hang out in the dorms with my friends quite often. The worst part of the dorms is having to share a bathroom with so many other people. Its frustrating when you need to shower before class but theres already a line to use it. Not only that but the temperature of the rooms is never what it should be. The best part of the dorms is the social atmosphere, and it that most of them are very spacious.

Campus Housing: The walls are extremely thin, which cause problems

Campus Housing: Living on campus is nice, everything is fairly close. But there is not much around the campus, and since Freshmen can't have cars we are very limited to what types of activities we participate in. It seems like drinking and partying is all there is to do, and the bars are open- and full even on weeknights. It's not my idea of a learning environment.

Campus Housing: Our buildings are very old and the rooms feel tiny. They are building new buildings, but they are not letting the upper classmen get them.

Campus Housing: The dorms on campus very in degrees. Some are really nice and new and shiny, while others are a little run down. However, regardless of where you live it's all really great. I've found that I don't spend much time in my room besides sleeping because the hall I live in has plenty of activities to keep us occupied and entertained! The others living in the dorm really enjoy spending time together whether it's cooking, watching movies, or playing board games! I really enjoy living in the dorms and the people that I get to live with!

It’s a good thing that students are required to live in the dorms their first two years; all new OU students are thrown into the same boat, facilitating social interaction and making the transition much easier. During their years in dorms, most students meet the friends with whom they’ll be sharing their entire college experience. Some even meet potential boyfriends and girlfriends. Suffice it to say, the dorms are a great experience for pretty much everyone, and it makes the first couple of years at college, which can be the most difficult and unsure, easier.

Thankfully, the residence halls are nice at OU—they are clean, convenient, safe, and comfortable. While South Green is kind of a walk from the main part of campus, people still seem to enjoy their experiences there, especially those living in the Front Four. Another great thing about living in dorms is the amenities. Students totally get hooked up with a mini-fridge and a microwave, which is more than what many colleges have to offer. A downside to dorm life are the rules, such as no boys in female-only halls after a certain time, no candles, all guests must be escorted, and so on. Though these are for everyone’s safety, it can still be frustrating to have to worry about sneaking a girl or guy into your room when you have so many other freedoms. But, in all, residence life is great, especially when compared to the stresses of bills, landlords, cleaning, and other responsibilities that come when you move off campus.
