Off-Campus Dining: If you're drunk and hungry at 1 am High Street is your oyster.

Majors: I experienced no trouble getting into my program, I simply chose my major from a drop down list around orientation time.

Majors: I've met a lot of professors of economics who have genuinely cared about my advancement and have taught me a lot. Some classes are dull and taught poorly but a majority of professors, especially those at the higher levels, teach interesting classes that they care about a lot.

Greek Life: If Greek Life is your thing, it's fairly easy to get involved. If it's not you're thing, it doesn't really hamper your social life.

2 College Freshman

Local Area: Columbus is a boring city with fairly little going on outside of a few decent restaurants. There's hardly ever a need or want to leave the general campus area unless you want to buy groceries or go to a bar downtown.

Campus Quality: Tons of people involved in countless different activities.

Greek Life: The greek life is big here but not nearly as big as schools like Miami University in Oxford, but it is an easy way to meet new people.

Drug Safety: The drugs and alcohol can be accessed if someone wants it, but peer pressure is not big here. Some people are more into it than others, but no one really gets judged for not participating.

Academics: The classes here can be very big as in up to 600+ students in one lecture hall, but the good part is there is a recitation class that allows a student to talk about the topics covered in the lecture in a smaller classroom with around 25 students in it. The professors vary here. Some are international and hard to understand and some are awesome at what they do and can really explain in detail so that the students are able to understand it the first time.

Athletics: It is well known that Ohio State is known for their football team, so being at the football games is important. It is a big way to hang out with other students and cheer for the same team.

Campus Housing: On campus, if you want an atmosphere that goes out to parties and bars all the time, south campus dorms are the place to be. Some of the south campus dorms are also newer which are cooler looking whereas the north campus dorms are older. The north campus dorms are more studious and not nearly as many students go out on the weekend. But all places are social with each other.

Administration: The campus strictness is alright at best. People can get away with any type of drugs or alcohol here without anyone noticing.

Local Area: The stores around the campus are diverse. One can find almost any type of clothing style pretty much on High Street.

Diversity: On campus, the diversity is wide. People from all over the world come to Ohio State to go to college. When talking to these international students, their stories are pretty interesting and I love to hear about them.

Party Scene: The night life at Ohio state is live. People are everywhere on High Street either going to a bar or to a party. There is always a place to go if one would want to. There are plenty of places for underage students to go.

Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dining is outstanding because the main street is very close to campus as well as the majority of the off campus living. Most places are open late and there are plenty of options to choose from including a variety of different types of foods such as chinese or mexican.

Athletics: Sports are HUGE here at THE Ohio State University, especially football! School spirit is always high and our athletic facilities are amazing (the RPAC has a great pool and sauna).

Campus Housing: I lived in Morrill which was great for late night runs to the RPAC for working out (it's a ghost town late at night). It was very far away from High Street which sucked on weekends but overall it was a great atmosphere. Everyone on my floor got along and you always had someone to do something with.

Scholarships: The school says they have money but I have not seen any of it.

Academics: There is always an opportunity to get into research because every staff member is required to do some sort of research.

Party Scene: Big Bar and Frat parties are great for dancing. House parties are pretty fun too, just make sure you know the person whose house it is or know someone who does know whose house it is.

Local Area: In the fall, the main attraction is football. Especially around campus, if you aren't dressed in OSU gear/watching the game people will think you are weird. There is a lot to do downtown, there is the short north, which has a gallery hop once a month on Saturday's and has a fun Halloween event, and then you have downtown and the arena district with a lot of nice restaurants.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
