Academics: The academics are kind of what you make of it. If you want to be challenged you can find that here, but a lot of the experience is on you.

Local Area: A lot of people really love being in Columbus. It's pretty easy to find things to do, even if you don't want to spend a lot of money.

Drug Safety: I never notice drug use/peer pressure. The drug use policy seems to be average.

Greek Life: I was not involved in greek life so I can't give it a rating.

Parking: The cost is a little steep, and the campus is HUGE. So it depends on where your classes are, if you live next to campus etc. However the bus system is pretty dependable and useful.

Diversity: The campus is very diverse. There is a good mixture of groups.

Off-Campus Dining: Columbus has a huge variety of off campus dining. You can find everything from high end steak houses to awesome hole in the wall restaurants like Thurman's Cafe or Franks hot dogs.

Administration: I would say it is average, neither strict nor extremely lenient. With such a huge student body you just want to herd the masses.

Campus Housing: I have never lived on campus. I started at OSU as a 2nd semester sophmore and wanted to live off campus. I have been in some of the dorms though, and they were very nice.

4 Recent Alumnus

Party Scene: There is something to fit everyone. Greek life, bars, night clubs, concerts, house parties.

Academics: If you want challenging classes, you can certainly find them in abundance here. Add to that great intern/research/job opportunities while in school and you can't be it!

3 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Housing: It reallly depends on where you are around campus. The west side and east side of campus are very very different. Personally I lived on the northside in upper arlington. Very nice neighborhoods.

Weather: It is snowy in the winter, but spring summer and fall make the cold winters worth it. The campus is gorgeously landscaped and comes alive in the the spring with colors.

Local Area: There is always something happening in Columbus. As a whole, we are up on the list with our diversity in sexuality and very accepting. The shopping is everywhere. OSU sports are the best and we are all supportive. You dont want to miss out on a saturday game tailgating. we are always having different nationality fests, latino fest, italian fest, etc. The locals love our students. We are all hardworkers and are in college for a reason.

Administration: I haven't lived in a dorm at OSU but i know many people that do and they feel safe and say there are a lot of rules but if there weren't rules, they would be a bad experience. meeting new people is great here and if you have a problem with your roomates, you're easily accessible to change rooms.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: I'm not in a sorority and haven't looked into it but i know they live in nice houses and it's expensive. I've never been to party thrown by a greek.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: I have used Financial Aid for a lot of my schooling but i have dealt with some health problems where i've been dropped off my fasfa because of my GPA lowering because of me missing classes. I gained it back but it was a process.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I live off campus about five minutes from campus. Parking is easy and the landlord is always available. I pay a nice chunk of money but i work 50+ hours a weeks so i make enough money to live in such a place. the school has a website that provides different places to live but because i dont live on campus, i haven't used it.

5 College Junior

Technology: Having multiple libraries, there is always somewhere to use a computer and print easily. I do have my own computer but have never had a printer because of this easy access. The wifi is off and on in different buildings but overall reliable.

5 College Junior

Majors: It's the best. I wouldn't do it over. My professors are all really interesting people and bring a lot to the table. We are taught how to use LinkedIn which a lot of schools don't teach. My career goals are to finish school, work for a NPO in DC to legalize gay marriage worldwide and work for Hanger Prosthetic. I don't have any concerns because a communications degree, you have a wide variety of job offers!

3 College Junior

Majors: I didn't find the admission process hard however, i do think the course load is very prestigious. you have to stay on top of your work and be in class.

4 College Junior

Diversity: Being a women studies major, it's my job to recognize the diversity of our campus! we have walks that men do for women to keep us safe. We are an open campus about sexuality and religion.

5 College Junior

Party Scene: Between the house parties, short north, osu-Michigan week tailgating our party scene is huge! the bars strictly enforce 21+ which is great because you're with people your age and no one younger is getting in. The transportation is great. outside of taxi's we have COTAs that run through the night and a school bus that takes kids in the dorms to and from the bar making it safer for students to go out downtown for college nights!

Transportation: The shuttles are amazing. Always on time and making it to class from parking miles away is easy with this. If you're driving through campus and it's busy, expect to be there a while. There is always construction on our roads. The parking cost is ridiculous but i pay it because i don't skip class.

Health & Safety: There are police everywhere however, a lot of rapes have occurred this semester alone. The number of rapes and attacks on females is increasingly large. I never walk alone after the sun goes down and always have mace on me. There are the "blue button machines" where if you need a police officer or feel unsafe you hit it and they'll be right there however they're slow and you're better off running to safety.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
