Diversity: The university does an exceptional job with accommodating the various students it enrolls. A known leader in multicultural events and movements on campus that connect each student with a different background brought by other students.

Health & Safety: Other than the typical crime that occurs in major cities, Ohio State creates a safe atmosphere that embodies the campus & city that surround it.

Academics: Ohio state is a excellent choice for any student with a plethora of Majors to choose from. The academic realm of the university is second to none. Top notch faculty and staff along with diverse & innovational students carry the torch that has made Ohio State above & beyond others for decades. Just another reason why Ohio State uses THE before it's name. THE one & THE only.

Diversity: Being someone with a different racial background, I chose a school that wouldn't single me out for being different. Ohio State is the perfect school because there are so many ethnicities and races on campus and everyone is treated equally.

Majors: I came to Ohio State for the Neuroscience major and everything is up to par. My advisor is beyond amazing and I am very happy with the path I chose. I truly enjoy the classes I have to take for my major.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I was the last class to be admitted straight into the major, from now on everyone is pre-Neuroscience.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Ohio State is not just a social school, the academics are very competitive. You have to work to earn the GPA you want. Grades are not just handed to you.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: I am in a sorority, so I am biased. I think the Greek community is important not only for socializing, but for leadership and philanthropy as well.

3 College Freshman

Technology: Printing is relatively easy, not many computer labs except in the libraries.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: You can't really tell if people are big into drugs.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Nothing beats buckeye football and basketball. All of Ohio is involved, not just people in Columbus.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: High Street has so many possibilities to choose from.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Greek parties are great. Bars downtown are very fun.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of selections, from sorority/fraternity houses to apartments to houses.

4 College Senior

Party Scene: People really like to party at OSU. If you are under 21 though your options are pretty limited to house parties and a few bars, kind of far from campus.

Weather: Haha it's Ohio come on the weather is always crazy.

Transportation: The transportation that is available I think mostly meets student needs. Students do though kind of subsidize the city bus system, which works for some students because you get unlimited access to the bus system but other students would rather not spend the $13 a semester for a service they don't plan on using.

Health & Safety: The university I think does a good job of making safety and health resources available to the average student. Students with more severe health needs though can sometimes get frustrated with their situation.

Scholarships: I got a scholarship worth about a quarter of my tuition and I didn't even have to apply for it; the application I sent in just to attend also qualified me for the scholarship. There are other scholarships you can apply for, but they become increasingly competitive and again there are so many students they can be hard to get.

Drug Safety: A lot of people drink heavily on weekends, but most people don't use other drugs. There is some aspect of peer pressure for drinking because so many other people do drink, but I've never seen a situation where someone was actively encouraged and pressured to drink when they really didn't want to.

4 College Senior

Diversity: A lot more diverse than my home town, but still dominated by white, cis-gendered, heterosexual people. That's not to say there aren't communities within the university that celebrate and embrace diversity, and there are student organizations for every demographic, but most students fall into the majority demographic of the country.

4 College Senior

Administration: There are too many students to really exert much control. The university isn't out of control, but it's more self enforced and enforced at lower levels like with RAs and instructors.

4 College Senior

Majors: Big variety of programs, but again it's mostly what you make of it. There are too many students for your advisors to go chasing you down to make sure you take these classes and apply for these internships and stuff.

College Senior

Majors: There aren't really internships available through the school, you have to go out to companies and organizations and find them. It's really frustrating and hard but you can get help with that if you use your resources.

5 College Senior

Technology: Really nice computers pretty accessible across campus. There are these places in various buildings called "the Digital Union" that have new, expensive equipment that hardly anyone knows about or uses and its always quiet there and you can get help with software.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
