Party Scene: Insomniac's Problems Are Answered – Parties: There are some nights that house parties are all the rage (mirror lake jump, halloween, home game nights) but mostly that's just for those that are incapable of making it out to the bars.
Bars: Most are 21+, but for those able to go they are AMAZING! Just on campus there are numerous bars to go to and Gateway offers a wonderful mix of dancing (Charlie Bear), casual (gooeyz), or just the average bar/pub (ugly tuna). Never fear those on North Campus, they've got Little Bar, Sloppy Donkey, Thirsty Scholar and lots more in between. Word to the wise, if you're using a fake, stay away from Gateway. Best part about Columbus is that it's only a short ride downtown. There's a party bus offered from campus to downtown and back, plus it's FREE. Downtown offers a wide variety of bars that even those under 21 can enjoy on select nights.
Transportation otherwise can be done using COTA, free with your buckid, or by taxi.
BEST PART: there's always something to do, every night! Turning 21 on a week night? NOT A PROBLEM. There's always some bar with a special or that is hopping on a select night, just ask around and someone will fill you in. :)

Athletics: Best Damn Athletes/Fans/Students/... in the Land!! I wasn't actually involved in any sports but they definitely play a large role even if you're not in one. Being able to root for your team lets you know just how big athletics are here. The athletic facilities are numerous and contain some of the newest equipment around. For a large campus, there are many facilities so there's no real problem trying to get to one, they're all over campus. Also, SO MUCH SCHOOL SPIRIT and student involvement as well. Not wanting to go varsity? Intramural and club sports are also available and TONS of students get involved, spots fill quickly but they're a lot of fun! (a side not on school spirit, you'll often find people cheering, even for the intramural games)

Campus Food: Not 5 Star, but Still Edible! The food is not great, but there are so many locations that you can go to eat it's really what you make it. There are some places that will really impress you (LOVE MARKET PLACE!) and others that are subpar (some traditional dining offerings) but you've gotta eat, and these places offer just that. The wide variety really makes this better than the average university dining halls.

Parking: Good in the Morning and the Evening – Parking passes can be very useful if you don't try to use them between 9:30AM and 4PM. If you spend a lot of time on campus in the evening it is definitely a good thing.

4 College Junior

Athletics: Great Sports School – Wonderful sports teams and fan support just watch out for dumb drunk people if you go to the games.

Health & Safety: Things happen, it is a city. But not often and it is generally quiet if you are smart about where you live.

Off-Campus Housing: Off Campus Options. There are a lot of off campus options available with apartments and houses readily available from several realities. Its a bit cheaper and the extra space is nice, but safety is a concern because break-ins are common. Parking is limited but usually a few spaces are free per unit. The school offers a few info sessions about off campus options. Its worth looking into.

Local Area: Urban Campus – The local area has a cool urban vibe. Lots of restaurants and shops to visit. Safety is an issue, with several crime alerts both on and off campus. Homeless people are common here. Diverse cultural attractions scattered around. There is an artsy shopping district, the short north, within walking distance. Overall there are a lot of interesting and fun places for students to check out in the area.

3 College Freshman

Academics: Big School Big Opportunity – Large class sizes can be intimidating, but the professors are accessible. T.As and recitations don't really help. There are lots of courses to choose from. Registration is a pain, but everything usually works out well. The workload is manageable and there are a lot of resources for help. There are also a lot of exciting learning opportunities outside of the classroom. I can personalize my education to fit my future goals.

4 College Freshman

Administration: Just don't do anything too illegal and you'll be fine.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: They Practices Well, They Have their Heart On the games They play Most Of all the Have Fun Playing with Team work.

Campus Quality: Small Campus – The professors at OSU-N are very good, and are willing to do whatever they can to help you. My school is made up of about 3200 students, with much diversity. It may be small, but it is well known. Also, almost everyone on and around campus are friendly and willing to help with anything needed.

Campus Quality: Limited Athletic Centers. When it comes to academics, The Ohio State University Newark is well equipped. There are plenty of computers avaliable and our library is one of the best I've seen. There are plenty of campus activities, and notice of the activities are well posted. The only downside of OSU-N is our athletic center. We only have 1 gymnasium with 1 basketball court. Our workout room consists of 3 treadmills, 2 elipticals and a stair stepper.

Academics: Environmental Policy and Management – I'm an Evironmental Policy and Management major at a Regional Campus of The Ohio State University. I am currently in my second quarter of my freshman year, and so far all of my classes, which have been GEC requirements, I have been content with. My instructors for the most part have been good, minus a few hiccups here and there. The job opportunities in this town (Newark, OH) are very limited when it comes to my major.

Majors: Academic Councillors Suck – I felt like I chose a mqjor that wasn't suitable for me, because I didn't have good guidence from academic councillors. I believe that the large size of the school makes it hard for councillors to really mentor students.

5 Recent Alumnus

Administration: Not Very Strict. Campus is very lenient and only wants what is best for students.

5 Recent Alumnus

Technology: Both Macs and PCs offered at every library on campus.

Athletics: School Spirit – What can I say about Ohio State's school spirit? It starts on Thursday befor the football game and continues until Monday morning. There is such a sense of pride on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Thompson library hours are convenient but crowded at times

3 College Sophomore

Technology: all areas on campus provide excellent WiFi service
other computers are crowded at times

4 College Junior

Athletics: Go Buck-Eyes! The name says it all. Football is a big sport not just in the college but the state itself.

Weather: Ohio Is Ohio – If you already live in Ohio, you should know what to expect. It rains a lot, so come prepared with an umbrella (sturdy enough to withstand the wind), rain boots and a raincoat. There were often times I didn't even want to go to class because of the weather, but that's the price you have to pay for such a great school. The winters don't get too much snow but definitely have uggs and bundle up! Try to plan your classes around what buildings are close to you and where the bus stops are. The summers are good, but winter lasts way too long.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greeks Are Semi Important – Greek life is definitely popular. I constantly get asked if I'm in a sorority. However, the school definitely doesn't revolve around it. Fraternity parties are lots of fun if you're looking for a bit of fun on a Friday night. There are tons of fraternities and sororities, all of them different so if you're interested you'll find one you fit into. If you're not interested in greek life, you have nothing to worry about. Plenty of people aren't involved. Many sororities require you to live in the house at least one year, which may be a disadvantage to some people. Their rules are pretty strict but the houses are really nice because they can't throw parties.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: There's definitely no shortage of facilities here. Tons of libraries - including a 24 hour library. There's multiple gyms, all of which have lots to offer. There are plenty of tutoring rooms and places to go. The Ohio Student Union is also excellent. 4 floor of rooms with activities, lots of food, and places to study. There are also food places all over campus. I'm an extremely picky eater, but I always manage to find something to eat.

4 College Senior

Party Scene: The Gateway is a lot of fun to go dancing and get cheap drinks. There are also many smaller, crappy looking bars that are actually deceiving based on looks. There are always many house parties going on every weekend, especially when it is warm outside. Any night is a good night to drink on campus.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
