Transportation: Transportation options at OSU are really good. If you live in University Village, residents have their own big red buses that travel to and from campus. There is also CABS and COTA. CABS is strictly for OSU campus, and residential living areas, and COTA travels to the medical center, downtown Columbus, and even passed Northern Campus. You can look at multiple stops to see where you need to go (each route is color coded), you can call the number they provide you, or check their site and choose the route you are needing and it will provide you with how long of a wait you will have before the bus reaches you at the nearest stop around you. You can also drive (parking permits are for certain areas, so you will want to know what areas you can or can't park in), and there is always the options of biking, or even walking.

Campus Quality: Ohio State University is set right off of High Street, that has many different companies that are always looking for college students to work there. The facilities on campus (along with jobs) are easily accessible as well. The Ohio Union is one of the main features I go to every day, it's open late, students can either watch movies, attend events (such as but not limited to, career fairs, movies, Urban Meyer talking about the football team, flash mobs to the most recent song craze of the month), study, or eat some food from Woody's Cafe (where they project football games during game day), Sloopy's or the coffee shop/cafeteria. The Union was built for the students to enjoy and to be utilized by any means. The Multicultural department, Block O, and other departments are all held within the many levels of The Union. You can enjoy the gift shop, or play the piano that on the upper floors in you choose to. But just remember, the Ohio Union is just one of the many extraordinary facilities that is easily accessible throughout the OSU campus.

Transportation: The cheaper parking passes are a 15 to twenty minute bus ride from classes. But the buses are great.

Weather: The weather in Columbus sucks. It's super windy and cold in the winter and is always overcast. You have to go out of your way to stay happy in the winter because it's easy to get depressed. What snow we get will linger, but gets turned into dirty slush by the second day. Campus is huge and classes are (almost) never cancelled due to weather, so people mostly bundle up and suck it up.

Summers are painfully hot and humid, with some days edging up past 90 degrees Fahrenheit and 60%+ humidity. I'd like to be somewhere that isn't constantly going back and forth between these extremes.

Athletics: We have 5+ excellent athletic facilities with a wide variety of activities and classes to fit every interest. Our main gym, the RPAC, is only a few years old and is overwhelmingly impressive. It's massive, has every machine you can think of, tons of windows and natural light, 2 cafes, and more. School spirit is a huge deal. Everyone wears tons of scarlet and grey on game days, and football Saturdays are exactly that: FOOTBALL Saturdays. It's a lot of fun, but since the school's just a couple miles from downtown and the Short North, there's still plenty to do if sports aren't your thing.

Campus Housing: The dorm I live in is a quad on north campus that is getting torn down after I leave here in a week. I have met lots of good friends here and it is a great location but this building is 50 years old and disgusting. I have killed six cockroaches here and everything is dirty and bits of ceiling fall on stuff. There's pipes running through my room and the showers are small.

Campus Food: So much variety and Starbucks coffee is served in many places on campus. I will miss my food plan next year because there is lots of good food at all places and you will never be bored. You can also get fancy for special occasions and go to this place called Blackwell which is a regular 4.5 star restaurant where you can use blocks.

Greek Life: Greek life is very demanding. I do not recommend it for anyone interested in the fields of engineering, medicine, or law. They have a lot of fun but it is too distracting for intensely academic majors although it can be done just don't expect much sleep.

Scholarships: Incredibly difficult major with lots of very smart people. Being a woman in engineering allows for lots of opportunities though.

2 College Junior

Weather: The weather is always all over the place. The fall is usually really nice, but in the Spring, by the time it warms up enough to go out and enjoy it, it's already finals week.

5 College Sophomore

Local Area: It's a big city and it always has something going on. OSU is not to far from downtown which is so convenient.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: I would say that this school is very diverse and has many opportunities to meet different types of people. Although many people at this school are white, we have a lot of chances to meet other people.

Technology: There are computers all over campus, but during exam week, it is more difficult to find an open computer in the lab. The computers are all flat screens, updated with the latest technology. You could definately use only computers on campus without purchasing your own, but it would be exceptionally inconvenient for how much work you are expected to do online.

Campus Food: There are numerous food options on campus; anyone could find food. However, many of the establishments offer the same food and become very monotonous. You can use your meal plan to buy some over priced groceries if you have extra.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: It is easy to find a place near campus, but parties and vagrants are always your neighbors. It does not feel particularly safe in the evening time. It is more affordable than living on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: In the Winter, it is difficult to navigate the weather because you have to walk everywhere and it snows or ices frequently without warning.

4 College Freshman

Parking: Parking on campus is great and convenient with excellent shuttle service to get you to and from your car and campus. The only downside is it's a little expensive to buy the pass.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The football and basketball games are awesome. All varsity sports at Ohio State are very well known. The football and basketball teams perform well year in and year out.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: The campus is very nice with many activities. Up and down High street there are many restaurants, bars and other attractions. You can travel to the RPAC and get in a good workout or play some competitive basketball. Also, attend some yoga classes or hit at the driving range.

2 College Senior

Greek Life: People that are part of greek life are not that friendly.

3 College Senior

Technology: Sometimes they are really slow. All the computers are dirty!

Parking: The parking on campus is about average. You will either need to arrive around 8 in the morning or after 5 pm if you want to get a spot nearby. However, all parking spots are more manageable than those you will find on the main campus.

Drug Safety: The drug scene at OSUN is largely visible. The dorms often smell of marijuana, and it is nearly impossible to go a class without 1/4 under the influence of a drug. To much misfortune, there is little to no enforcement, either from the RAs nor the administration, despite their knowledge of the illicit activities.

5 College Junior

Drug Safety: Not much of a drug scene, although it depends who you hang out with. Alcohol and partying is definitely present, similar to all large public universities. That being said, as the population is very large, it is never difficult to find friends with the same interests that you have. If you want to find a party, you will find a great one. If you want to go to a party but not drink, there will be plenty of friends with the same plans. If you want to avoid parties all together, there are plenty of other activities you can have access to.

2 College Junior

Parking: Costs are very high and convenience is very low. Parking is far from campus and lots fill up very quickly.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
