Parking: Since a lot of kids who go to the Mansfied campus also live in Mansfield, it makes parking harder. But getting up a little earlier before class helps if you want a good spot.

Off-Campus Housing: Mansfield Campus and Ashland University Housing – I absolutely love the Ashland apartments. They are brand new and very spacious. The apartments are actually also cheaper than the Molyet Apartments, OSU's apartments.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Engineering Work Load – the Engineering work load is intense. The amount of work & difficulty of required classes is hard.

Majors: I loved the engineering classes at OSU, but the General Chemistry & math classes leave something to be desired.

2 College Sophomore

Majors: Engineering Classes – The Engineering program itself is reasonable, but the math & science classes required for it are extremely difficult. OSU is a very competitive environment for those accepted as freshmen to main campus.

Off-Campus Housing: You May Have to Work Hard to Get an Apartment Near Campus. There are apartments all around campus, but there are also tons of students. Your apartment search has to start early. There are a lot of realtors specifically designed to find students housing near campus. To get prime real estate close to campus often times you have to get a waiver from the realtor and personally go door to door asking if the residents are moving out at the end of their lease, and if so have them sign it so that you can be first on the list for that apartment. So unfortunately there is not a wide selection, actually a lot of times you don't even get to see the inside of the apartment until you sign the lease especially if the apartment is in close proximity to campus.Landlords are understanding and generally easy to handle.Possibly because they are afraid of the student housing lawyers that students have easy and cheap access to for the slightest injustices on the landlords part.Parking is pretty awful near campus. Not only do you have to buy expensive parking stickers but there are tow trucks everywhere too.Its pretty common to have been towed at least twice during your four years here.Safety has been pretty bad as well. The campus is safe, but there are known gangs nearby that terrorize the off campus housing market.Location is everything in finding housing off campus. It's hard to find a place close enough to campus to feel safe, but if you do living off campus is easy and the freedom is great!

Athletics: Buckeye MANIA – Step one foot onto the O.S.U. campus and you will know sports are a huge part of the campus culture.Sports teams are given homage from the banners hanging along the streets with our famous sports players to the campus paper with the game score and highlights on the front page.Anyone that knows anything about football knows O.S.U. has a topnotch team.Students stop everything for game day.Weather they are taking part in the famous "O block" at the far end of the field, enthusiastically cheering on their team or are watching with their friends at a local bar almost everyone catches the "football fever". It's not just football that has fans from not just campus but around the country singing the O.S.U. anthem.O.S.U. has everything from basketball to rifle shooting. You certainly don't have to be an athlete to participate in sports. There are recreational sports for all levels,as well as great classes in the numerous state of the art sports facilities on campus. O.S.U. has a league/team for pretty much any sport you want and many more that you've probably never even heard of.

Overall Experience: Best School – I absolutely love OSU! There's so many opportunities and literally anything you can think of to do.

Diversity: Very Diverse – There are a lot of different ethnicities and religions at OSU.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There Is a Lot of Options – There's a lot of options to live off campus, but VERY expensive.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: It Depends on the Building – Many housing buildings are nice but it depends on where you choose to live. North campus has air!

3 College Sophomore

Majors: Some Easy, Some Hard – As a biology major, most of my freshman classes were pretty difficult. Gen Chem and math are both weed-out courses, and it doesn't help that they're usually 500 students in each class. Also, it's pretty obvious that the professors don;t enjoy teaching. Once in a while you'll get a good one, but overall, my experience in harder classes sucked. Classes like Sociology and writing were a breeze though.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Everywhere I go at OSU, I can see people from foreign places or hear a foreign language. While there is a lot of Caucasian people, there is a substantial Asian population and a smaller African-American one. One of my roommates was from the Netherlands!

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It's a huge campus, and no matter how much they talk about community and involvement, it's still extremely huge. It is very possible for someone to feel "lost". A lot of the harder courses, math and chemistry for example, are seemingly impossible. Many professors don't care for teaching and it shows. It's definitely a place for social people, and the first year is a HUGE culture shock. I made a lot of friends, but my grades didn't end up how I had planned.

Weather: I Really Don't Like the Snow. The university does a good job keeping the sidewalks and roads clear of obstructions due ti weather. Classes are relatively close to the dorms, so it's not too bad to walk to class in bad weather.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Pretty People Everywhere! There is never a shortage of someone pretty to look at! It is impossible to say that the dating atmosphere is bad. There is sure to be someone on campus that can be a great boyfriend/girlfriend.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The overall experience at school so far is amazing, to say the least. There are a lot of friendly people who are immersed in the Buckeye Spirirt and that makes it a lot easier to make friends around campus. Ohio State is unique because it has a large student body and there isn't that distinction between upperclassmen and freshmen. The students are always willing to help and there are a bunch of clubs and student organizations that help the student body thrive.

Campus Housing: Small, but Friendly – Even though there is not that much space, the dorms have that natural friendly atmosphere where you can get along with everyone in your dorm, floor, or building

Local Area: High Street Has Everything! Not only is The Ohio State University its own social atmosphere, the city of Columbus also has a variety of attractions. I think the most popular attraction is High Street. This long strip of road includes stores and activities for anyone looking for fun. There is a theater where movies are shown and concerts are held. There are also a wide array of stores that litter the street, from CVS to Sloopy's Diner. High Street is constantly filled with college students and local people who want to go out for some fun.

Local Area: Urban Environment, Lots to Do – With OSU being in a city it has a lot of offer. THere are many programs on campus, but also a lot of activity off campus as well.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Big Variety – OSU has a great variety of campus dining. Several places to go to and many options.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: OSU is very focused on academics and always available for help and advice. They always make sure their students are on track and happy.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: There May Be a Lot of Snow and Rain, but the Beautiful Days Makes This Campus So Wonderful – Rain and snow are definitely something we buckeyes are used to seeing, however this beautiful campus shines regardless! It makes the students appreciate all of the sunny days.

3 College Junior

Administration: Be Smart. Just don't be dumb. I've heard stories about people having parties and getting drunk. All I have to say is be smart and understand all the dangers and risks of your behavior. You are in school for one main reason, to get an education...all the other reasons come second and third...but pale in comparison.

3 College Junior

Majors: I am happy that OSU has a joint program with Columbus State Community College. This program allows me to attend both schools and graduate with my degree in Animal Sciences from OSU while also being a certified Vet. technician. Talk about killing two birds with one stone! The only part that is not fun is if you are currently a sophomore or junior and you decide to start this program, because of the quarter-to-semester change. If you are currently a freshman or will be a freshman next year, then joining the program any year after this will be easy peasy, lemon squeezy! This program will hook you up with internships around the city/state,(some across the country & world!) It is conviently scheduled with you OSU schedule so there is no conflicts. I definately recommend this program!

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
