Scholarships: I did receive some fin aid, but was told that my FAFSA was received too late to be considered for institutional aid. However, I had met the priority deadline. I think I was skipped over :-/
And like any other college, they like to nickel and dime you to death with lots of little fees etc that aren't always well explained. Making an appt with a fin aid officer is a good idea. Just stopping in the student center is a pain.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great. You have the opportunity to socialize more with different people and meet new people of different races and ethnicities. The security of students in the Neil Complex is ok because you have to swipe your buckeye id card in order to access the building. However, anyone can enter the building if they have a card so be careful about lending your card to anyone.

Parking: Parking is terrible. I live on-campus and you would think that I would at least have a better chance of finding a parking spot. Wrong answer. I did not buy a permit because the cost is insane and I can use that money to pay for my books and use towards gas. Even if you buy a permit, you're not guaranteed to get a decent parking spot because of the other 28 million students that attend OSU that also have a car to park. My advice would be to get a bike and hook it to a tree and go to class.

Campus Food: If you're ever pulling an all-nighter which you probably will, try to study in the SEL 24 hour library. At least they have a "cafeteria" per se if you get hungry but tht=ey close at 11:00pm throughout the week and at 8pm on the weekends. The food is ok. It's mainly sandwiches, chips cookies, fruit etc. I recommend to bring your own food because at times they'll run out of certain foods that you may like or not have any in stock at times. Great smoothies and shakes.

Technology: They are everywhere and easy to find an open one. Some labs have macs and some have PC.

Health & Safety: I don't feel unsafe on campus, but off campus can be dangerous at times.

2 College Sophomore

Weather: Campus is huge, and it snows often but class is never cancelled- even when everything else in the city is.

Transportation: The COTA is terrible, but it is free and pretty convenient. The CABS buses are great for the campus area. The SSS is awesome for late nights when nothing else is running. Taxi services are pretty good in Columbus too. They're always fast and friendly.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Varsity athletes at OSU get the best treatment from other students and faculty from what I see. The school spirit is a huge thing on campus and all around Columbus. The teams always seem to perform magnificently.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: The majority of this university is white, although there are a good amount of international students as well.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Great dining options around campus. Lots of healthy options if you want to avoid the Freshman 15 and large variety of meals and places to eat.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Sports at Ohio State are huge, we have a massive fan base and outstanding school spirit. Not to mention amazing teams.

Parking: Parking on campus is convenient, most of the parking lots are right on campus. However, the price of an anual parking ticket is very high.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: There were always policemen patrolling areas of campus.

Campus Quality: There were many clubs and activities to get involved in.

4 College Senior

Majors: I really enjoyed the program. Most of the classes were interesting.

4 College Senior

Majors: The program was not selective. You just had to apply.

4 College Senior

Majors: I enjoyed most of the classes. Some seemed fairly pointless.

3 College Senior

Majors: I never had an internship while in college and I dont plan to.

Campus Housing: I lived in a learning community my freshman year, and I hated it. Do NOT live in the International House LC because you are likely not to make very many friends.

Academics: I am entering my sophomore year as an undergraduate. I have completed mostly GE classes, but I have been challenged by a few, and not challenged by some.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Ohio State is an excellent school for sports fans, and athletes alike. There is a great athletic diversity at Ohio State. There are tons of options for intramural sports as well, and great fitness, and group fitness offers all year.

5 College Sophomore

Administration: Campus is not what I would consider a strict place. You pretty much have the freedom to do whatever you want whenever you want so long as it's legal. There are rules on drinking, but honestly those are not enforced at a totalitarian level, just don't drink in your dorm room, because you'll probably be loud, obnoxious and caught.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: It is often cold on campus but wearing the right clothing will make it easier to walk to classes. Scheduling classes close to where you live will help prevent walking too far in the cold. When the weather is warm, many students are on the oval enjoying the sun.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: There are a lot of scholarships available but there are a lot of students.
I received a Buckeye scholarship but doesn't cover all the costs.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
