4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: The Greek life is what makes Tuskegee University such an exciting hbcu.

2 College Sophomore

Greek Life: My school doesn't support Greek Life due to our Christian values

3 College Senior

Greek Life: Greek life is not openly supported by Oakwood. However, students are affiliated with various fraternities and sororities. These are not openly endorsed by our school or supported financially. It is more so a personal endeavor on behalf of the student. However, when an Oakwood student is involved in Greek life it is common for them to be active in mentoring and giving back to the community.

2 College Senior

Greek Life: Greek life is extremely limited, and the school does not endorse it. Anything pertaining to Greek life cannot be worn or displayed on campus. Only thing students hear about Greek life is about the parties they throw.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: There are a few fraternities and sororities on campus but from my understanding they are lifelong brotherhoods and sisterhoods for those who pledge.

When it comes to Greek life, Oakwood is not the place to go. There are unofficial fraternities and sororities such as Omega, the Sapphires, and the Rubies, but these groups are not supported by Oakwood University. Although Greek organizations are not permitted on campus, one may find some recruits on campus. On busy days like Alumni Weekend, these groups take advantage of the lack of surveillance.

It is advised that students do not join these groups. There on can even be discipline according to the Oakwood University handbook. Oakwood promotes the idea that we are a big church family, and there is no need for a fraternity or a sorority. This does not mean that there are no students at Oakwood who join fraternities and sororities, though. There will always be students who break the rules.
