3 College Sophomore

Diversity: This is a HBCU, so the majority of students are black. But there is a growing hispanic population on campus. But everyone is accepting no matter what race or you are. The majority of students are Adventist, but not everyone.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Oakwood University, though a historically black college, and is generally uni-racial, is very diverse. Though a lot of the students look the same, we are all from different countries. The cultural diversity is wonderful!

Oakwood University is a Seventh-Day Adventist historically black university. Due to the nature of Oakwood University, it is not much of a diverse school when it comes to ethnicity, as the students that come here are predominantly black. However, students do come from diverse places. Some come from the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, Africa, and across the United States. There are also many international students.

Oakwood is a very open and friendly school to minority groups, but these groups are under-represented. The white and Asian population can all be counted on one hand, and we have only a few Hispanics. Most of the students are Christian and demonstrate the ideal Christian character. The girl-to-guy ratio at Oakwood stands well when compared to most schools. Overall, as a historically black university and a Seventh-Day Adventist school, Oakwood University surprisingly is quite diverse.
