Academic Flexibility: Since I'm at the smaller campus of Oakton CC, I get a much smaller selection of classes than the bigger campus. That means that it begins to become a struggle to find the correct classes on the correct days, especially after you been there for a year. You may need another math as well as a lab science, but they're on two seperate days or only offered at nighttime, etc.

Overall Experience: I mean, I would like not to have to go to a community college again (I'm ready to go to university), but if I had to, I certainly would. It's a great place, I learn new things.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I really love this school. It's basically a hub to transfer to other Illinois schools, and it helps people to do just that. Even the gen-eds are jam packed with new information and the teachers love to help their students.

College Junior

Overall Experience: I have not experience any of these things, save for the alumni network (which bestowed me a scholarship for my freshman year) and I feel like giving a rating to something I do not know would be wrong.

Online Courses: I've taken one online course at Oakton and a few traditional classes that use the Desire2Learn option a lot as well. So far, the teachers that have used this have been phenomenal. Desire2Learn itself takes a while to learn. In my online course, all the students discussed several key class topics.

Student Body: The thing is, I've been here for about a year and I hardly know anyone. A lot of people from the local high school come here and with them they bring their cliques. Me, being an outsider, it's just like no interaction whatsoever.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Oakton is an extremely cheap school for its residents, and they offer a great deal of scholarships to its students.

2 College Junior

Career Services: This rating may be unfair because I haven't experience all the things in the category, but I have a few. The job prospects/work study at the school is extremely hard to get into. No one could or would help me. As for career counseling, it's a $50 fee to even get into that.

College Junior

Academic Experience: Oakton CC is only the first stop in my college career. Most people come here to transfer in order to save money, just as I am. That being said, I can't tell of any experiences about my major because I have yet to experience it. But Oakton is a great place to get started with general education!

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: Registering for classes is easy, but the variety of classes to pick are a bit disheartening. I really enjoy the professors and curriculum here; most are from the big universities downtown, so they know what they're doing!

Campus Resources: Since Oakton CC is a small college, and the Skokie even smaller than its sister school, I think the resources here are decent for what it could be. The library has a nice selection on several topics, computer labs are great and have a wide variety of programs. The student center is pretty meh, and the campus itself looks pretty meh, but you can't have it all, I guess!

4 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: Homework for the classes are pretty chill. Most of the assignments have a pretty good deadline.

Overall Experience: I haven't been there for a long time but what I have experienced so far has been great.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The teacher are great and full of energy. They keep the class excited and can sometimes be tough but only because they want us to do well in our studies.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Columbia is very engaging. The classes are full of many students of many ages. Once we had a acting scout come to class and train us in auditioning.

College Sophomore

Online Courses: I have not taken online courses

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: I meet a lot of different people with different backgrounds and stories.

3 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: The school is a bit pricey that is why I'm taking a few classes in community college.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: The Teachers at Columbia are really there to help. They always find time to talk to students about what they may be struggling with and give great advice.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: The work load can sometimes be a lot but it is useful material to make sure that we know more about film. It is also very fun and engaging.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The resources at Columbia are pretty good. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to be able to film with a bolex camera my freshman year.

3 College Senior

Student Body: Students do a lot of school activities

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: So far all the teachers have been very helpful

3 Recent Alumnus

Student Body: Maybe it's because I struggle to make friends with the other students. It gets lonely sometimes, but I'm getting better at it because some of my friends from high school are there and they know a lot of people there.

4 Recent Alumnus

Academic Experience: Most of the professors I've had are pretty nice and are good at explaining things when I get lost. The advisors are very helpful, and though the college workload can be a bit much at times, it feels worth it once you've finished the assignments.
