As anyone living in Michigan knows, the weather can change in a second. Michigan winters can become brutal; they can go from extreme cold and rain to a blizzard. Oakland University is located over a snowbelt, so whether you are looking to live up there or just commute, thick coats and heavy sweaters are a must-have.
Although a big chunk of the year is made up of snow and rain, another big chunk is made up of sunshine and blue skies. The autumn season is one of the most beautiful times at Oakland. The trees all turn a deep red and orange, and go on for miles. In the summer, the warm weather brings out the hammocks that swing at the edge of the pond. But with the summer comes the hot weather, and if you are in the dorms, that means no air conditioning. These are the times when you escape to places like the Oakland Center and the Recreation Center to get out of the heat. When the cold weather comes, so does the cold wind. So it is good to know some tricks when walking from class to class. Use the buildings as walkways. You can walk through one building to get to another; it will keep you warmer and dryer.
