Overall Experience: The campus is really great. Very beautiful and easy to get around. The professors in my department are very friendly and willing to listen and understand students. It is somewhat impossible to get any help from people in office when you need something. They either never respond to your emails or messages or they are completely dumbfounded by your request.

Overall Experience: Everything has gone better than I have expected and I have made friends with many people I never would have thought I would. My school is the perfect distance away from home where I can be independent from my parents, but still return home for a visit when needed. My courses and teachers are very thorough and teach you everything you need to in order for you to further you education in the course.

Overall Experience: My overall experience was great! The people on campus and the surrounding area are extremely friendly and so nice. They are very willing to help with anyone I would need. The campus is also so beautiful. It's very peaceful on site. Everything about it so far has amazed me.

Overall Experience: I loved my high school! It was the best in the city and in the state! The academics were great and so was the teachers help! If it wasn't for the help of my parent and teachers, I would not have graduated.

Overall Experience: I've learned so much about myself while away at college. It was a great experience

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing selection is great.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: The party scene at NSULA is fairly non-existent. There are very few parties on this campus.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: The off campus dining is pretty basic. We have mostly the regular fast food chains and a few diners as well. The diners a pretty pricey though.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: The campus is pretty strict. The campus closes at 10, which prevents anyone from entering unless they have a student sticker or gate card. At university Columns, we aren't even allowed to stand on our porches or loiter around outside. It gets very boring having to stay in the house all the time.

Campus Food: Campus food is okay for the most part. My top recommendations would be Vic's or The Grill. The Café is good, but there isn't much variety so you would probably get tired of eating the same thing all the time.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: To get financial aid make sure that you apply early, well before the deadline. Also make sure that you complete every step fully.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: It is great to live on campus, it makes it easier.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The food is pretty good but there could be more choices. If you eat there everyday, it can get old. Also, Sodexo can get on the expensive side.

Athletics: Go Demons! Sports are a large part of student life, but studies are even larger.

Off-Campus Housing: It's better to live off campus because it's usually cheaper than on campus, but finding an opening can be difficult.

Off-Campus Dining: For a small town, Natchitoches has an okay variety of restaurants.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: There's usually always a great party going on.

3 College Freshman

Administration: They are super strict on some things, but pretty lenient on others.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I got what I needed, but it took a lot of effort to get it.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: I mean, the food might not be the best, ut they try to accomodate everyone by giving us options.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I do not live off-campus. Students under the age of 21 are not permitted to live off campus unless they meet certain requirements set by the school. I have a few friends that do live off campus and their apartments are right outside of the campus gates. They look like pretty small rooms. I do not know much more about housing outside of campus.

Before you come to NSU, the first thing you should do is figure out how to pronounce "Natchitoches," the name of the city in which the University is located (for the record, it's "Nack-i-tish"). After that, enjoy all that the University has to offer, including good academics, stellar school spirit, and a historic atmosphere in the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase. Some of the other assets of the school include its diversity, active Greek life, and activities both on and off campus.

If you are looking for a campus with rampant public transportation, then NSU might not be the school for you. The best way to get around would be by car or by foot. Also, the campus is a dry campus, which means it's alcohol-free. Other complaints from students include the cafeteria food, building hours, and the fact that it's mostly a commuter campus (with around 80 percent of undergrads living off campus).
