5 College Student

Overall Experience: This is the very first year that i attended to Northern Michigan University. I went to orientation because i was a transfer student. All of the people were very nice and willing to help and answer any questions. I am very confident since then that i will be very happy studying here and i can seek for help if i need.

Overall Experience: The classes are a great size, I got to know a lot of my professors. In my nursing program, I got close with all of my students in my cohort and my instructors.

Overall Experience: There is a lot of career prospects.

Health & Safety: I feel very safe at this school. I do not ever feel on edge.

Campus Housing: The dorms were a great way to meet people. I met some of my best friends that way. Its nice to constantly be with or seeing peers. The only thing I did not like was how we had to live there for two years. It got to be so repetitive and I wanted to be on my own but couldn't.

Greek Life: It is not a very big thing at Northern. We have some fraternities and sororities but they do not even have houses. It is not very popular, but nobody is ever judged for it.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Sports at Northern are important and a big deal, except a lot of students do not attend. Hockey is our most popular sport here and those games usually have a good crowd.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Northern is a great school. It has brought out a side of me that was sort-of hidden. It allowed me to open up and enjoy nature even more than I already did. The faculty and students here are so sweet and caring. I feel as if I have made life long friends.

Greek Life: Greek life is great if you are an incoming freshmen that has not heard their reputation yet. The few frats we have are known for the parties that many women are afraid to go to. The sororities we have are extremely cliquey and the members do not really associate with others outside of the small Greek life community we have. The reputation has gotten slightly better in my few years here, but still not good.

Overall Experience: cold, small, safe, liberal arts focused university

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: Some of the classes are better than others and the same cam be said for the professors.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: I hope I can be hired somewhere decent and begin to pay off my student loans.

Health & Safety: Our Public Safety are actually part of the State Police so that they have the jurisdiction to deal with any problem that my arise.

Campus Housing: Though some of the halls are old, they are still worth their weight in gold. Everyone is cool with everyone. The cost is okay but it could be cheaper but due to the short walk from halls to the academic buildings, its slightly worth it.

4 College Senior

Greek Life: They're a decent size part of campus life. They volunteer at all the local charities and try to help the school any way they can.

4 College Senior

Athletics: Hockey is the thing to go and watch at Northern. We have an awesome team. Intramurals are fun and almost everyone is apart of them. And we have many Olympic straining students who attend.

Overall Experience: I would choose Northern Michigan University again due to the fact that it is the best school for me. All of the professors are great, able to help out as needed by the students. Everyone is mostly opened minded and definitely open to debate. The campus is easily assailable on foot with lots of trees and outdoor places to study. Many professors use the are around as part of the classroom and it helps with keeping students in class.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I think Northern is just awesome. The school, along with it's staff and professors, really strive to achieve the best they can with their students.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Although some students who graduate from Northern will complain about the job prospects with their degrees once they've graduated, I believe that that should not be a reflection of the school. The job markets that are hiring today look at Northern as a very good school, and for good reason. Everyone I know who has graduated with a degree in Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Education, or similar degree currently has a job related to that field of study.

Health & Safety: I have personally never heard of any sexual assaults or related issues on our campus. There have been reports of suspicious individuals on campus, but for the most part everyone looks out for each other and the school pushes and strives for good health and safety among it's students both on campus and off.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is pretty great. Northern makes it easy for everyone to apply, and sends a brochure out to everyone that is new to the dorm life. When moving in, they even have volunteers ready to assist anyone who needs help in moving in! Once you're on campus, RAs meet with you and everyone else on their assigned floors and schedules events and meetings that keeps everyone in touch and engaged. Everything from homecoming, to games, contests, and dances are touched on! The rooms themselves are the standard rooms you'd expect, small but livable, although they come at a good value. Internet and cable are included in the rooms as well!

Greek Life: At Northern Michigan University, the greek life is not very strong. But there's a reason for that, and that's because their focus is on the education and the campus life itself. Northern holds a strong passion for its students to find and discover themselves. They believe that to do that, you need to enjoy your educational studies by involving yourself with others and nature as well.

Athletics: When they say that the athletics are some of the best in the country, they mean it! Being a U.S. Olympic training site, there's a reason why our facilities are top notch! In addition, most of the students here are proud of our athletic teams and players and support them!

Overall Experience: My experience with Northern Michigan University has been amazing thus far. This is soon to be my third year in school after attending community college and my first year at Northern. The professors are all amazing, and down to earth with their students. They are experts in their fields of work and love to engage with others about their experiences and memories. The schoolwork keeps you very busy and engaged as well. The campus is beautiful, located right next to Lake Superior, you have an abundance of activities to do in or around Marquette, Michigan. A stroll to the beach for some relaxing studies isn't too uncommon in this area!

Athletics: I come from a heavy Athletic school and it's relieving that Northern is not like my old High school.
