5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The school brings a atmosphere of adventure and seeing something new and great about the world. Everyone here is so supportive.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Everyone looks out for each other for the most part.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: NMU is a great place to be happy and achieve your dreams. I love how outdoorsy and down to earth everyone is. From studying in the library to camping out with your dorm mates in the woods.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: You can go to the Hedgcock building to get all the information you need on careers and internships.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: It was a great experience and great way to make friends.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: We only have a few. We are not big in the greek life area.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Everyone comes together to cheer on their favorite teams here at NMU!

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love how friendly everyone is here at NMU. i also love how all the out door activites there are to do here.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I live in Halverson, on the second floor. I don't like that there is no elevator in either of the four resident halls connected to the marketplace. There should be an elevator to make moving in and out easier at the beginning and end of the year. The laundry room in Fantasia is horrible. The washers ruin clothes. The dryers are always broken. The furniture in Halverson is poor. The bathrooms need to be re-modeled and cleaned. The cabinets are rusting and it looks disgusting. I liked Van Antwerp, Hunt, Magers, and Meyland better. The looked like nice rooms, almost like a hotel. Better lighting and space.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I've never been in a frat or sorority so I wouldn't know

3 College Freshman

Athletics: I have not worked out at the PEIF but I heard that it is not a fun place. There are not enough equipment for people to use.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It's far from home so I get homesick. The people are nice. The Payne/Halverson and Gant/Spalding halls should be re-done. It does not look like someplace that kids would want to live in. The food is not that great, needs better variety and appealing food. Snow is not really plowed on walkways and parking lots. There should be a bus service that takes kids to Walmart, Target, the PEIF or the mall.

Academics: Academics at NMU are pretty awesome. Even if a class is hard and overwhelming, professors are usually pretty eager to help. There is also free tutoring for the entire campus and a writing center that helps any student with any writing assignment. Northern has a pretty fair curriculum too. Their academic probation, suspensions, etc. are pretty fair and the NMU will guide you to getting back on track with your grades.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: There are bars for students to go to and there is a party scene at Northern. Northern's parties are not as wild as other universities in Michigan, but can be just as fun

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: Their is a pretty obvious drug scene at NMU. Some students do succumb to peer pressure, while others are able to stand their ground. The peer pressure at NMU is not a serious issue. If you tell someone that you don't want to get involved with a drug, they're more than likely going to respect your wishes and not treat you any different.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Professors are extremely friendly and helpful! They really care about the students and want for everyone to excel.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Students can receive tons of help with finding jobs or internships within their major. The faculty at NMU is very dedicated to seeing students succeed during their time at NMU and after graduation.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The health and safety office does a great job in informing students on remaining safe on campus and educating us on the importance of being safe

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: My first semester at NMU i was placed into block courses that were mostly just general and not major specific. My professors seemed to be confident in their teaching abilities and knew the material well, which in turn made me confident in my learning. I enjoy mostly all of the classes I took my first semester.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: As a freshman, the school works hard to make sure that you have a good idea of what you want to do after graduation and introduces you to a wide range of opportunities and job recruiters. Because of all the opportunities I was given related to my major, I feel confident in what I want to do and that I will be able to do it after leaving NMU.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living in the dorms has been an overall great experience. The people are friendly and I really enjoy the suite style dorms.
