Administration: So long as your not loud or obnoxious, RAs wont bother you and you can do whatever you want in your room

Administration: Northeastern has several groups dedicated to campus safety. There is also OSCRR which is the body that takes care of substance violations. You will be referred here for a hearing or meeting if you are found to be in posession of alcohol or drugs. There is also a policy on campus called Medical Amnesty. If you are intoxicated and you need medical attention, and your friends call Northeastern Police and stay with you until they arrive, you will recieve medical attention and neither you nor your friends will get in trouble. I can attest to its usefulness, but be careful because it can only be used once. NUPD is not otherwise very strict about things, I see them around campus but they don't go looking for people breaking the rules, they really are just there for your safety and to break up out of control parties.

Parking is annoying because you are on Boston City streets or NU Parking garages. The city streets are meetered and the parking enforcement is strict. The garages are okay, just expensive per day parking if you have someone visiting.

Administration: Northeastern is strict in many areas to protect the students as we are in the city. Signing guests into your dorm is a hassle.

Northeastern is efficient at keeping students safe, which is certainly a good thing. In order to ensure safety, rules and regulations must be put into effect, and the University certainly doesn't mess around with its policies. Considering the fact that the campus is located in the middle of Boston, it's nice to feel secure and know that you are well protected by the University.

RAs are usually not looking to get any students in trouble; however, most do take their job seriously, and if you're having a loud party in your room or get caught drinking underage, you will face consequences. With that being said, you will not have to worry about intrusions from RAs or Northeastern security, unless you are doing something wrong and being obvious about it. Mostly, all cases where students are punished by the school are completely warranted. The Boston Police Department usually has no patience for students from any school, and officers will shut down parties that are loud and cause disturbances to neighbors.
