Health & Safety: Campus is very safe and well lit. They provide an escort service for up to a mile around.

Guys & Girls: There are a lot of international students. Most students come from affluent families and dress well. It is easy to get along with people but long term/ strong friendships can be difficult to form.

Overall Experience: I believe the co-op program at this university will both nurture me and help me achieve my future goals.

Party Scene: It's hard to party in dorms, but there are plenty of other options such as nearby housing or neighboring schools.

Health & Safety: I feel very safe and secure on campus. They have emails that warn us about dangers in neighborhoods. The police are always present and ready to assist you.

Majors: I love my major. I have no concerns about finding an internship because Northeastern's co-op program is number one.

Greek Life: Greek life is present but not the biggest thing. I don't think there is Greek housing available because we are in the heart of the city.

Administration: The school policies are reasonable. The administration clearly cares about their students. They are also fair when handling situations.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The professors are enthusiastic. The curriculum is very interesting. The workload is manageable. The library is a great place to study. I've only been here for a semester, but I totally love this university. Northeastern provides many opportunities to study what you are passionate for.

Off-Campus Dining: Depends on what you're used to and what cuisine. The South End definitely has the best deals and variety. Cambridge too. Asian food is usually great in qualiy and price. I love symphony sushi right by the school! Pavement is great. Newbury has plenty of options but back bay can be pricey when you eat out more than once a week

College Freshman

Overall Experience: I'm very thankful to be at Northeastern, each day the ranking and name keeps getting better and better. You look around you and the school and opportunities are worth it. The administration is what completely stresses me out and you never know where you're standing and what bill they will shove in your face next. Classes fill up a lot as well. I feel like they only care about their cash cow which is the business school. And they are the students who don't need labs, or supplies etc and careless usually about academics. I'm in the architecture studio and we have leaks and it has really poor maintenance. It is a really expensive major and the school seems to look the other way with software, tools and supplies. There is really poor school spirit and there aren't too many clubs. You have the city of Boston so its understandable. I'm used to city life so Northeastern was a good fit in that sense. You have to take your own initiative in Northeastern, find your own happiness in the city and what it has to offer.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: still in dorms, im actually looking for an offcampus apartment

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Well the lottery system is a pain in the ass, RAs can be really strict, freshmen dorms are pretty awful except the new East Village. Upperclassmen have better options

4 College Freshman

Local Area: you can't hate Boston, sure its terribly cold but its beauty is always there. if you go out and do something new everyone weekend or meet someone new its keeps snowballing and you never get bored. just dont get stuck seeing the same people and going to the same places. Northeastern's location is tough to beat. Shopping is amazing and you always have the Charles! Get to know each neighborhood

Athletics: not a big deal, hockey and rowing are good

3 College Freshman

Administration: Advisors are complicated, also financial aid or switching a major is a mess. Most teachers are good one on one, few passionate, lots of foreign teachers that are hard to understand, others just pull up a powerpoint and dgaf

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: International kids are all one big clique that goes to all the clubs, bottle service etc. Everyone else just goes to frat parties or dorms not too many options under 21 just depends on your group

3 College Student

Athletics: There aren't a lot of major varsity sports teams that are good in the school, but hockey is the most popular one.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Science and the environment are strong majors here.

Overall, Northeastern University is a well-rounded school that offers a wonderful college experience and a high-quality education. The campus is beautiful and offers a quiet respite from the larger city of Boston. Northeastern exposes you to city life while still allowing you to feel a sense of community in its enclosed campus. The faculty is helpful, and it is fairly easy to get in touch with the right staff members to assist you with your needs. The co-op program puts you ahead of the game when it comes to job connections, industry knowledge, and professional experience. Most Northeastern students who partake in the co-op program graduate with two or three entry-level jobs on their resume.

The downsides at Northeastern are minimal. Parking can be difficult because the school is in the middle of Boston. But most students feel that Northeastern offers a unique college experience that allows you to enjoy your college years while getting ahead in your career.
