Transportation: The public transportation system is great around the city.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: As far as classroom policies, they are very strict. I don't know about the dorms or other policies.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The program is very well known to hospitals in the area, and I think it helped to find a job in that sense.

Local Area: Boston is a great city, and there's always something going on around the area.

Overall Experience: It's a great school, great location.

Off-Campus Housing: Boston is very expensive, but there are a good number of housing options.

Administration: The campuses drinking policy doesn't affect me but they appear to be pretty lenient about seeing as I have never known anyone who has gotten into trouble for it and the only people I have ever known to get into trouble for smoking have been athletes.

Transportation: On northeastern's campus you are within walking distance from anything you may need and when you want to go to a concert or a celtics game you can walk over to one of the three train stops right on campus to get there. With your student ID you can receive a discounted rate for transportation on the train and if you need long distance transportation you can take a local train to South Station and take a long distance train or bus to nearby states or take a bus to logan air port if you needed to fly somewhere.

Academics: The professors at Northeastern take great interest in their students. A big part of why I chose to attend Northeastern is the curriculum and how challenging it is and also how interactive it is. My favorite place to study is the library because of all of the different levels which are separated by noise level for example the 1st floor you can be as loud as you want and on the 4th floor you should be as quiet as a mouse. So if you have a group project you may want to work on the first or second floor but if you're studying for an important test or a midterm you may want to head up to the third or fourth floor.

Scholarships: I received a lot of money in financial aid being an independent student but because I am an independent student with no support in paying for college what I received in financial aid was not quite enough. at the moment I am taking out loans with high interest rates so that I am able to attend school.

Campus Housing: There are lots of great choices for campus housing. There are your typical dorms and then there are also apartment style dorms owned by the university.

Weather: Boston is a very windy city which I don't mind unless it's winter. In the winter boston can get very cold and wind but it's not too bad because everything is so close and the train stations are always so warm that you sometimes forget about the weather.

Greek Life: Because the school is so big I honestly do not know who is in a fraternity or a sorority. The student in fraternities and sororities don't tend to stand out from non-Greeks and I think I like it that way because nobody feels to excluded and Greeks are not better or worse than non-Greeks.

Local Area: I love being around so many other schools, I love having access to a train system that is constantly running. I love having access to so many sporting events and concerts, and I love the fact that even when you think there is nothing to do there is something such as a comedy show, there are comedy shows every single night in Boston.

Majors: Although my grades were relatively good I was not accepted to Northeastern upon my first application. I spent my first year at another school, making the dean's list both semesters, to prove to northeastern that I could handle the workload. Upon my second application to northeastern I was accepted. I would say that Northeastern has a relatively normal procedure for getting into any major but I believe that grades do play a huge part in your acceptance into the school and/or major.

Majors: I love being in a specific program. I love having classes with other students who are in the same program as myself. I am a health science major and although the workload is incredible I do enjoy it because I know that I am learning information that is going to be useful to me in my career. A big thing about Northeastern that I love is that they have a Co-op/internship program that you do for a whole year while at the school. Northeastern has a five year program and for one year you do an internship to get hands on experience in your field. Another thing that is really great about the co-op/internship is that 50% of students are hired by the company who they did their internship with.

Health & Safety: The police on campus are not your typical "campus police" they are actual Boston police. There are blue lights all over campus and you can push them to talk to and get assistance from a cop on campus, who for example could walk/drive you home at 3 in the morning if you felt unsafe.

Athletics: Northeastern has one of the top rowing teams as well as one of the top basketball teams in the country, the school is very supportive of its team especially when they go off to competitions. And for injured athletes the support you can get is amazing.

Off-Campus Dining: We're in the city! Endless options for all! Head down to chinatown, or get italian on the north end!

Drug Safety: I have not felt like peer pressure is an issue here at all. Greek life is not abundant, which is where most of the pressure from other schools comes from. Policy enforcement is pretty strict if you're caught, but one violation won't ruin you.

Party Scene: Not a huge party school, so theres not excessive partying all the time, but it is pretty easy to still find a good party! The T shuts down at 12:30, so parties end earlier than other schools

Scholarships: I received more financial aid from Northeastern than my safety school! They offer some amazing aid packages, and made it very easy for me.

Health & Safety: There are safety concerns just because we live in a city, but Northeastern does a great job to make the students feel safe.

Academics: I think the curriculum is very rigorous- we hold our own against BC, Harvard, and MIT!

Overall, Northeastern University is a well-rounded school that offers a wonderful college experience and a high-quality education. The campus is beautiful and offers a quiet respite from the larger city of Boston. Northeastern exposes you to city life while still allowing you to feel a sense of community in its enclosed campus. The faculty is helpful, and it is fairly easy to get in touch with the right staff members to assist you with your needs. The co-op program puts you ahead of the game when it comes to job connections, industry knowledge, and professional experience. Most Northeastern students who partake in the co-op program graduate with two or three entry-level jobs on their resume.

The downsides at Northeastern are minimal. Parking can be difficult because the school is in the middle of Boston. But most students feel that Northeastern offers a unique college experience that allows you to enjoy your college years while getting ahead in your career.
