3 College Junior

Party Scene: I don't go to many parties at my school.

Local Area: The town my school is in is nothing special. Its a medium size town with several places to eat and a few shopping stores with one maybe two bars.

Scholarships: My personal experience with trying to get financial aid was definitely a process. Even after filling out all my information they would still ask for more paper work they needed instead of telling me what all I needed at once. When I finally got it all figured out I did receive my financial aid but, it was no where near enough to cover my tuition.

Off-Campus Housing: There are a couple of off-campus housing that I know of. It seems like a hassle trying to get one because everyone is applying for them. One place I know the landlord is not that great but, as much as I would love to live off campus I would not want to pay that price.

Greek Life: I am not in any Greek organization but I did think about it at one time. Some of the Greeks I know are nice then there are others who can be rude. I knew some girls when I first started school and when the joined a sorority they stopped talking to me. I feel like they think they are better than others if they are not in a Greek organization and that is not fair to others.

Scholarships: It went smooth. It seems to take awhile for them to process and release refund, but they are getting better.

Athletics: We have a great recreational facility completewith a pool. There are several gyms, a small rec room in the UC, and several classes including billards, personal fitness, and ballroom dancing.

Off-Campus Dining: There are several diners and restaurants just off campus within walking distance. There are several more that are a short drive. (You could walk if you have to.) There are also several chains such as Sonic, Burger King, Arbys, Taco Bell, Hardees, Mcdonald, Long Johns, etc.

Health & Safety: We have a very good campus security team that is headed by a real police sergent. He is very serious about the safety of the campus and its students and faculty. He visits classrooms at random and gives a safety seminar. There are also many scheduled seminars to discuss safety and everyone is encouraged to come. We also have a club that rallies nd collects concerns from students and staff. We also have designated safety zones and bright lighting across campus.

Overall Experience: Our school is the most prestiege if you are considering being a educator. The teacher canidates have an extensive curriculum. You will be armed will all of the tools to succeed and be an effective educator. You will learn how to incorporate technology, including robotics, into your classroom.

We also have very good optometry school, pre-health, fish and wild life, ROTC, fine arts, business, athletics program, and leadership opportunities, and many other options available.

NSU has a great career services program where they keep you informed of jobs, help with resumes, have career fairs, and even print you free business cards.

Greek Life: The Greeks are always doing something. They sponsor alot of activities in the community. Every club, frat, or sorriety is encouraged to participate as long as they follow the rules. They have many activities where the public community are invited, including a childrens Halloween carnival. Sometimes they are just being silly and relieving stress by setting up blow up slides, bounce houses and those giant balls that you climb in and roll around. Whether you go Greek or not, you are encouraged to participate.

Administration: Our school is very attentive to the needs of the students. They encourage the open door policy, have a lienient adverse weather policy, an active student body, plenty of advisors, and a club for everyone! NSU makes sure the civil rights of the students and teachers are protected at all cost. We have a highly diverse student body. You are accepted here reguardless of race, religion, or sexual preferences. If you respect others, you will get respect in return. There are plenty of clubs and activities to participate in and sometimes they give us free food, drinks, or other goodies. They offer a variety of destress activities during finals week, including a campout in the library where you can litterally pitch your tent!

Health & Safety: the nurse doesn't know what she's doing and the counseling is decent

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: It's nice to not have rules but very expensive and the meal plans for commuters are awful

2 College Senior

Campus Housing: I loved the community but the environment was gross

3 College Senior

Majors: They're not amazing but the advisors are pretty nice

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: NSU is a decent school for the price but it's definitely not great

Athletics: The teams don't normally do that well so there isn't as much support.

3 College Senior

Administration: I don't think the administration knows what it is doing but they're still open so...

Local Area: Tahlequah is a very unfortunate location for a college due to the lack of safety in the area.

2 College Freshman

Campus Housing: There are cockroaches throughout our housing hall.

Campus Housing: I love living on campus, and the food options are great. My most favorite part of the campus living is that they have a Food Pantry Program for students who don't have the money for all of the meals that are required.

Guys & Girls: Everyone is different, and there aren't any set stereotypes for the school. However, I have noticed an extreme lack of other Hispanic students.
