4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: So far all of the above are great.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: This school has a lot of help to offer and is a great starting point. My advisor is someone who specializes in my area.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The professors know what they are talking about and explain it well.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: As Coeur D' alene is a small town it is easy for NIC graduates to find work.

4 College Junior

Student Body: Most students are friendly and helpful.

4 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: We have a great amount of programs for the amount we pay.

3 College Junior

Career Services: I have not heard a lot about postgrad services.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: It is a typical 2 year.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: The professors are very good at explaining and the school offers fantastic advising services.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The teachers are mostly helpful and there is a writing center that is amazing for writing papers.

Online Courses: Online classes are more convenient but they don't always give you that real world experience. I personally take my non-major courses online as an extra self knowledge. Last year I took a Philosophy class and all though I do not like controversy and debates the class opened my understanding and knowledge level in several different areas. In the end I really enjoyed the class.

Tuition & Financial Aid: They go over and above in trying to get you all available aid needed. The Education of Financial Aid and Student Loans is very detailed yet easy to understand. They make sure you know exactly what you are getting into. They also send constant updates for additional aid and sources to go to so that you can apply.

Online Courses: Outstanding -it is the BEST EXPERIENCE I have had while attending College and I have attended on the East Coast as well but MUCH prefer NIC to any yet.

Academic Experience: I am currently in the Pre- Nutrition Program and intend on gaining a Bachelors in Nutritional Sciences. The Professors at NIC have been excellent. There is a lot of Research and Papers due but the Instructors present the Material in such a way, that you just become totally immersed and don't want to stop, so in doing these Papers you actually feel as if you really learned something. I am already lined up for an Internship because of their excellent JOB Resources. I am thrilled with their internet Learning as well. It is such a user friendly method of learning that even an OLD Person with hardly any Computer Skills such as myself can navigate it with ease.

Academic Experience: The Professors, I can't say enough Good about them. The Registration process is very easy and it is well monitored as if you start it and have not completed something within the time they think should have elapsed, they call and send emails inquiring if you are having a problem and if so can they help. Workloads are evenly distributed and your advisor is readily available if needed.

Career Services: The Staff at NIC have been informative, they have already put me in touch with people that can help Mentor and Guide me to Internship Positions in my field of study and have been very helpful as I am a non-traditional Student and they have made the transition back into school smooth and comfortable.

Student Body: Not lots of diversity here in the ethnic or religious aspect, but enough so it isn't stifling. There tend to be more conservatives than otherwise, and more Caucasians than otherwise, simply because of the demographics of the area. There aren't really any challenges to acceptance though - everyone seems to get along well despite differences.

College Junior

Online Courses: Haven't taken any purely online courses - I prefer hybrid or face-to-face.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: They are going to build a rec center here soon - but for the size of the college and the cost, you can't really complain about the facilities. They're pretty good. The Student Union Building is not huge, but a pretty nice place to host things and just hang out.

Lots of campus activities! Coeur d'Alene is big into the performing arts, and NIC collaborates with the community constantly to provide opportunities to have fun or broaden your experiences.

The campus is gorgeous - literally built on the shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene. A few of the buildings are a little outdated, but most of them are either modern and well-built or have a venerable aesthetic. The ivy on Lee-Kildow hall is famously pretty.

College Junior

Academic Flexibility: I haven't had to deal with many aspects of programs and transferring yet, so am unqualified to rate this aspect. However, I have heard from several people that the advising is not great in that area.

3 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: Although the tuition has just been raised a little, its not the actual price that is a headache so much as the not-so-competent Financial Aid office. If you heckle them a bit, though, you can get what you want and it is quite easy to pay off your school, what with the wide variety of scholarships available.

Academic Experience: The Philosophy Club and some of the instructors here are trying to bring a 4-year program in Interdisciplinary Studies (with a focus in philosophy available) to the University of Idaho center here. This would greatly increase the number and quality of available Philosophy classes. Right now, there are several excellent PhD professors teaching the current classes, but they are limited in the classes they can offer.

The workload is not very much for most of these classes - Dr. Kaitz is the only one who teaches in a method that requires intense focus and dedication, I think.

Philosophy majors can attend the University of Portland Undergrad Conference (largest Philosophy conference in the nation), present papers, and be on the panels, which is a great opportunity.

The Philosophy Club is very active and last year was voted best club on campus.

Academic Experience: The academics at NIC are actually a little better than what you would expect from a 2-year community college, and many of the programs are expanding. Nursing is excellent and a very competitive program here.

The Lewis Clark State and University of Idaho remote campuses provide some opportunities for 4-year (Bachelors) degress while staying on the NIC campus. Most recently, a BA in English Lit was introduced through UofI.

Campus Resources: Everything is great! It is all very helpful, and all in easy to locate places.
