4 College Sophomore

Majors: internships would be very easy. I don't have to do one but i have hosted a MSW at NCSU and its easy to find one.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: from what i understand they mean business in terms of their rules but it is nothing like a private college

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Everything was straightforward and I found out if I was admitted very quickly.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Athletics are a big part of North Carolina State University. There are several clubs and intramural sports teams and students are greatly involved in that. The official sports teams work very hard and they have earned a huge fan base on and off campus. That being said, they have their own dining hall, scholarships, and students on campus are always ready to show their school spirit.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The academics at NCSU are great. The professors are very proficient and willing to help during their office hours. The curriculum is very diverse and it is easy to switch majors during your first couple of years to find the one you enjoy most. The work load is as challenging as you make it, but despite having 16-18+ hours, there is a lot of room for failure. I say this because all classes have the schedule for the course listed on the moodle page and in most cases, the homework can be done months ahead of time. You can't go wrong attending NCSU.

Greek Life: Fraternities and sororities are greatly involved in the events going on around campus and are great contributors to the social atmosphere on campus. I have a couple friends in fraternities and sororities and they just seem more sociable and likeable than some of my other friends. Perhaps it is because they are constantly involved in events.

Diversity: when someone spray painted obscenities on the LGBT student group door most people protested and rallied in support of the club. I found it very inspiring despite some jerk's ignorant actions.

Health & Safety: We get alerts of crimes happening just off campus.

3 College Senior

Party Scene: There are house parties and on campus events that happen frequently, but the true nightlife of NCSU and Raleigh happens downtown for those who are over 21. The bars are diverse and interesting, with taxis as well as a bus line running to and from downtown (this bus is infrequent and difficult to catch).

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Everyone loves the Wolfpack here. The student sections are always packed during home games, especially for football and basketball. Since I came to NCSU, athletics has become increasingly competitive within the ACC and nationally as well.

4 Recent Alumnus

Transportation: They have added a ton of buses since I went here as an undergrad. So, there have greatly expanded the number of buses and also new paths. Sometimes it can be tricky to catch the night buses.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Some are new some are old. My room was not really that clean when I got it and I had to clean it. That does not seem to be the norm though.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Most programs here you just need to meet the GPA requirements and the course requirements if your transferring. For BME you must have a paper application to the department as well. Thats what messed me up I got the duedate mixed up and am now having to matriculate either this spring or in the fall into the program.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: The courses for my major are rigorous and serious. The professors and TA's are very helpful and want for us to learn and succeed. I am enjoying my classes very much. I feel like my time here is going to help me to become a very successful biomedical engineer.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: It is nice there are things to do. There's not as much to do as there is in Charlotte, where I am from, but that was expected. Overall I'd say it is a very nice environment, people are nice and friendly and you can always find something to do on a friday or saturday night.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: There really arent any drugs being used on campus.

4 College Senior

Campus Housing: I live in grad housing/apartments near campus. I love it.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: I live in grad housing/apartments near campus. Very convenient.

4 College Senior

Party Scene: The bar seen is cool. There are alot of bars near campus. Plus, buses run til 3 a.m. and will take you downtown to more nightlife.

3 College Junior

Majors: As an Animal Science Industry major, I have had the opportunity to work very hands on with animals in my labs. This major is not a pathway for Vet School but still gave me the animal interactions I wanted. The business classes required for this major are applicable for any student going to work for any kind of business. I do wish less advance science classes were required. With a full schedule I am not given the opportunity to take as many communications, PR, or English classes that I would like. I am hoping to go into a career of animal related publications.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: We have a very diverse student body, ranging from anywhere around the world.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: It's not hard to find a student apartment. The closer to campus you are the more expensive, but on average apartments aren't too costly.

5 College Junior

Academics: I'm currently in the Master's program in the Communication department. The faculty is excellent. My professors are interesting, experienced, and available. I feel like the whole department has a strong relationship.

3 College Junior

Campus Quality: There are some beautiful parts on campus, but there are also some embarrassing parts of campus. The construction going on is temporary and I'm sure the resulting new building will look excellent.

4 College Junior

Academics: NC State has lots of extra resources to help students that are struggling. All of my graduate school professors are excellent.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, the students' experience with NCSU is that it provides them with a rich learning environment. Students learn to balance play and work. Some come to NC State because of family tradition, to get away from the cold, or because of the College of Engineering-but whatever the reason is for the individual, positive feedback always finds its way out. Professors at the University will go above and beyond their call of duty. You make lifelong friends, and you have a huge list of organizations to partake in. Whether you're involved in a college sport, student government, or the Agribusiness Club, you will find your niche here among the thousands of students. Some professors will take you under their wing, and you will learn enormous amounts of information from them. These professors will also become lifelong connections who will probably end up writing letters of recommendation for you when it is time for you to find a job.

NC State wants its students to succeed not only in academics, but in life, too. Here you learn important lifelong skills that are essential to your survival in the real world. Classes can be rigorous and stressful, but students find a way to overcome hardships and get through. Professors will push you to do your best, but at the same time, they understand what it was like to be a student. NC State will help you become an expert in your subject of choice, and with the large number of students, you will come out of college ready to work in some of the most diverse settings.
