Academics: Professors teach real world applications to what is being taught in class and are always willing to help.

Academics: I have enjoyed all the general education requirements outside my major.

Greek Life: Greek life growing exponentially as new fraternities and sororities are being added every year and new houses are being built for each chapter.

Drug Safety: Parties are abundant in Raleigh, but there are a variety of clubs and organizations to join so if drinking is not your thing -- you will not be left out.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: There are a variety of dorm styles to choose from so I would tour the campus to find out what would work best for you.

4 College Junior

Weather: The campus has brick walkways so if it is raining, make sure you are wearing the right shoes or you will slip.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Hillsborough Street that is parallel with the campus has great dining location that are in walking distance.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: The guys on campus are friendly and interested in meeting new people.

5 College Junior

Campus Quality: Talley Student Union is being renovated and will be open soon. The dining locations are already open and are awesome.

4 College Junior

Transportation: The Wolfline can be a pain at times, but there is an app for you phone that will show you all the busses in a live feed.

Health & Safety: There have been several crime reports on campus the past few years. However, if you do not walk alone on campus at night you will be safe. If you do have to walk on campus at night, there is a number you can call to receive a police escort.

4 College Junior

Technology: There are computer labs in most building where you can print, but I would not suggest going to the library to print even though there are a lot of available computers there.

4 College Junior

Administration: Some teachers are strict on the honor code and you can be kicked out of a class for copying homework, but overall they are not too strict.

5 College Junior

Athletics: People get very into college sports around here, tons of school spirit.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: The nightlife for people too young to get into bars is pretty decent.

3 College Junior

Transportation: The school buses are great, but the city's are constantly late and won't get you a lot of places.

4 College Junior

Technology: Better technology in design labs.

Diversity: NC State is a very diverse campus with students coming from all sorts of backgrounds and many of the students are international. There are student organizations for the international students, religious minded students and the LGBTQ community and those who support them. Also NC State holds a diversity week the celebrates just how many different types of students attend.

Greek Life: At the moment the Greek system is in the process of raising money for each house to be renovated so most of the Greek houses are older and the rooms are very tiny in them. Also Greek students, at least in the sororities are only required to live in the Greek houses for one year, their sophomore year of college, so they either move back to campus OR into an apartment/house off campus after living in the Greek house.

Transportation: There are a variety of transportation options, including simply walking, available to students. The cost of the campus bus system is free for students and the campus bus line travels to many of the places students would need to or want to go to. Also being located in Raleigh provides students with access to bus lines such as CAT and Triangle Transit which helps when students need to travel to places that may not be covered by the campus bus line.

Off-Campus Housing: There are a wide variety of off-campus housing available to students. The university even offers apartments that are technically off-campus but the cost of the apartments are paid on the students account along with their tuition and what ever meal plan they may have. This wide variety of housing options is pretty appealing, especially since many students decide to move off campus for their junior and senior years of college.

Weather: For the majority of the year the weather has no real effect on campus experience. Rain and colder weather do make walking to class a hassle though, especially with all the bricks becoming slick when it rains. However since the University is in North Carolina snow hasn't been much of a factor, for me, to deal with.

Technology: I would definitely recommend bringing your own computer and printer because the ones available for student use can be hard to come by at certain "crunch" times in a semester and the paying to print in the library/labs on campus requires students to have another account, separate from the others already provided by the university, before being able to print. The way I see it we should have a pre-set up account with like a $100 dollar printing capability per school year, if the university is going to require such things(ie: account set up so that we pay to print).

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The college that I am in is one among several renowned colleges/programs offered but the university I attend. The specific college that I am has about a 90% job placement for its graduates.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The department is very friendly and keeps students informed about opportunities for internships, scholarships, and options upon graduation, along with opportunities for employment and research while still in college. They also help keep students aware of ways to prepare for work after graduating.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, the students' experience with NCSU is that it provides them with a rich learning environment. Students learn to balance play and work. Some come to NC State because of family tradition, to get away from the cold, or because of the College of Engineering-but whatever the reason is for the individual, positive feedback always finds its way out. Professors at the University will go above and beyond their call of duty. You make lifelong friends, and you have a huge list of organizations to partake in. Whether you're involved in a college sport, student government, or the Agribusiness Club, you will find your niche here among the thousands of students. Some professors will take you under their wing, and you will learn enormous amounts of information from them. These professors will also become lifelong connections who will probably end up writing letters of recommendation for you when it is time for you to find a job.

NC State wants its students to succeed not only in academics, but in life, too. Here you learn important lifelong skills that are essential to your survival in the real world. Classes can be rigorous and stressful, but students find a way to overcome hardships and get through. Professors will push you to do your best, but at the same time, they understand what it was like to be a student. NC State will help you become an expert in your subject of choice, and with the large number of students, you will come out of college ready to work in some of the most diverse settings.
