4 College Freshman

Athletics: Pretty good athletics scene and gym.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Call the office and speak directly to your counselor and hassle them with your sob story.

2 College Freshman

Administration: Campus is pretty strict about alcohol and drugs. They make a point during the first three weeks to make examples out of possible users.

2 College Freshman

Drug Safety: There isn't much access to drugs or alcohol if you aren't in a frat or a girl. Drunk people speed down the street at night waking you up. At the same time most people are actually up tight about drinking and drugs.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Most guys are closed minded engineers or preppy models. Girls vary more but are mostly attractive. White guys/girls out number everyone else greatly.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I've personally had a difficult time getting any financial aid. Being in my 2nd year here, I only very recently received a small scholarship because of merit and good grades. Unless it's need based, I find it hard to receive financial aid.

Campus Quality: We definitely have 2 great libraries- 1 of them being completed just last semester. Very modern and high tech, with tons of resources at both. The student center is currently undergoing construction, so in the near future it will definitely be a huge deal and a popular spot. The research that happens here at State is amazing. So many ideas and discoveries come out of the labs here, and we have very distinguished and highly recognized deans, researchers, and professors that contribute great work. NC State is also full of annual traditions, such as welcome week events, ram roasts, tailgates before home games, a week full of homecoming events, lighting up the bell tower in red after a big win, and may more.

Off-Campus Dining: There aren't really many places that have good quality food for cheap prices, but if you need cheap you always have fast food options. There are many local nice restaurants and several nearby places give out coupons and deals to students. A few are convenient to get to, as they are just a 2 minute walk off of campus, and others you can get to by the local transportation buses.

Campus Food: University Dining is one of the best aspects about campus here at NC State! They have so many options that cater to any person's eating habits. They have vegetarian and vegan options at every venue and dining hall and they are very careful and specific about what allergens are in the food. They have a great website where menus, nutrition, and allergens are easily accessible. The dining halls and food courts are spread evenly around campus so their is always food nearby! They just opened Talley Student Center that is complete with diverse and delicious food options. There are so many great aspects of University Dining that it would be impossible to list them all here!

3 College Junior

Administration: Parking can be strict sometimes, but for the most part State is about average. The police officers are great, though! They have two mounted units (on horseback) who are always visible around campus, plus another officer who sings karaoke at the dining events during the year!

5 College Junior

Campus Quality: A brand new student-union center is coming very soon! This should become the central hub of all student life on Main Campus, and a great way to represent the NC State community!

5 College Junior

Local Area: My favorite part about Raleigh is that there's always something to do! I could definitely see myself permanently moving here in the future.

4 College Junior

Diversity: There are so many students that State is definitely a very diverse school. Whenever there is some type of negative incident involving a minority student, it always seems to help the students bond together over the situation.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: You can't beat having Hillsborough Street right next to campus! Plus, the Dining department allows you to get special discounts to several restaurants if you use your student ID card.

4 College Junior

Athletics: There are tons of intramural options, and varsity sporting events are just as much social events as they are intense rivalries between other schools.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: There are plenty of scholarships and grants available for students, and the folks who work there are great! Just make sure you stay on top of all the deadlines ; )

5 College Junior

Campus Food: There's never been a better time to enjoy NCSU Dining! Two AMAZING new dining locations just opened up, the food is always terrific, plus the meal plan options are some of the best in the country (they won a major award for it last year!).

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: State was really my 4th option when I applied to colleges, but I'm so glad I came here and I've enjoyed every minute of it!

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: There aren't usually any problems, and State has such a diverse student body that you can always find people with the same views of underage drinking.

5 College Junior

Technology: You can get WiFi nearly anywhere around campus, and it's extremely fast! There are printers all over campus, where you can print directly from your laptop or any other device using an online upload system.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: I would strongly recommend living on campus for your first 2-3 years at State. Dorm rooms are a great way to get accustomed to college life, and there are plenty of apartment complexes that can suit your needs later on.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek life seems like a foregone conclusion for some students when they arrive at State, which is completely fine. There's no pressure to join, but it is a great way to meet a lot of individuals who share similar ideals and goals in life.

2 College Junior

Transportation: The bus system (Wolfline) is great, especially going from Main to Centennial Campus. However, the employees who handle parking permits always seem to make it difficult for everyone involved.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I couldn't see myself anywhere else

3 College Junior

Administration: It's strict where is should be and lenient where it should be as well.

Overall, the students' experience with NCSU is that it provides them with a rich learning environment. Students learn to balance play and work. Some come to NC State because of family tradition, to get away from the cold, or because of the College of Engineering-but whatever the reason is for the individual, positive feedback always finds its way out. Professors at the University will go above and beyond their call of duty. You make lifelong friends, and you have a huge list of organizations to partake in. Whether you're involved in a college sport, student government, or the Agribusiness Club, you will find your niche here among the thousands of students. Some professors will take you under their wing, and you will learn enormous amounts of information from them. These professors will also become lifelong connections who will probably end up writing letters of recommendation for you when it is time for you to find a job.

NC State wants its students to succeed not only in academics, but in life, too. Here you learn important lifelong skills that are essential to your survival in the real world. Classes can be rigorous and stressful, but students find a way to overcome hardships and get through. Professors will push you to do your best, but at the same time, they understand what it was like to be a student. NC State will help you become an expert in your subject of choice, and with the large number of students, you will come out of college ready to work in some of the most diverse settings.
