4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I've enjoyed my time at school so far. I feel like it was a good investment.

Campus Quality: There are plenty of places to hang out, and things to do.

Campus Quality: The equipment is pretty good, but there isn't always enough for every student to receive the individual attention they deserve.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: There isn't and abundance of help from the university unless you are an athlete.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Raleigh is a great city, but isn't designed for a college student.

Diversity: There are quite a few interesting and unique people on campus, but not an extreme amount of diversity.

Academics: Far better than most colleges, but there are flaws. Some of the professors are foreign, making it hard to understand them. The Engineering curriculum is great, it just takes longer than Georgia Tech to get immersed.

Drug Safety: There are places that have a lot of drinking and places that don't. it isn't a huge deal if you don't do drugs or if you do.

Administration: As long as you are smart, you will be fine. It is hard to get caught if you're being smart.

Technology: Tons of computers in the library. Wifi is available everywhere on campus except for some dorms.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Weather is perfect. It is typically very mild. Not too cold.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Hillsborough St. and Raleigh provide many different options.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Guys tend to dress nicer than girls. Most girls look like they just rolled out of bed. Many sport the "sorority" look and many guys dress in nice "frat" style.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Scholarships are nearly impossible to come by as a result of the size of the school. They are very competitive.

Greek Life: Lots of options are available. Some greek houses are very nice and new, but most frat (especially) houses are older.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: I love all of the dining options close to campus.

2 College Junior

Parking: Our school is very old so parking and car traffic was not as big of a factor back in the day. Today, however, it is a problem and it's hard to navigate around unless you're walking through campus.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, the students' experience with NCSU is that it provides them with a rich learning environment. Students learn to balance play and work. Some come to NC State because of family tradition, to get away from the cold, or because of the College of Engineering-but whatever the reason is for the individual, positive feedback always finds its way out. Professors at the University will go above and beyond their call of duty. You make lifelong friends, and you have a huge list of organizations to partake in. Whether you're involved in a college sport, student government, or the Agribusiness Club, you will find your niche here among the thousands of students. Some professors will take you under their wing, and you will learn enormous amounts of information from them. These professors will also become lifelong connections who will probably end up writing letters of recommendation for you when it is time for you to find a job.

NC State wants its students to succeed not only in academics, but in life, too. Here you learn important lifelong skills that are essential to your survival in the real world. Classes can be rigorous and stressful, but students find a way to overcome hardships and get through. Professors will push you to do your best, but at the same time, they understand what it was like to be a student. NC State will help you become an expert in your subject of choice, and with the large number of students, you will come out of college ready to work in some of the most diverse settings.
