Off-Campus Dining: There is nothing special really, only a few places. Honestly, the places to eat on campus are much better than any of the places off-campus. There is variety around, especially on Hillsborough street, but they rarely have any specials and the options are generally the same things every day. On-campus, there is much more of a variety as many of the places to eat on campus do have specials.

Administration: The strictness is generally lenient and easygoing.

Off-Campus Dining: We have a lot of ethnic food, which I don't mind but some may. We don't have that many like little restaurants you can go to grab a sandwich or a quick lunch.

Scholarships: I know a lot of people at State that didn't get the necessary financial aid they needed (middle income families that don't make enough to pay for college tuition). They ended up taking out a good amount of loans.

Local Area: I love the atmosphere around Raleigh. Coming from a small town, it's definitely weird to see all the cliques though. The sororities and fraternities all hangout, then there's the engineering/science groups, design majors accompanied by English Lit. Majors, and the pot heads. Of course there are others and the few exceptions of those who co-mingle between the groups. But everyone is so friendly. NC State is sort of surrounded by the ghetto, but college students are expanding their territory year by year. Downtown and Hillsborough are the "going out" places. Neither have a good variety of places to go for those under 21. The housing options are great! Although there is a bit of a monopoly on it by The Preiss company.

Majors: As a mathematics major one thing really stands out to me, the teachers/faculty are amazing. The concepts they're teaching are undoubtedly hard and advanced. Yet they blow through the semesters with a breeze and with such finesse. I truly appreciate how much time and effort they put in into making things work. No matter how long they have been teaching or if they have tenure every professor that I've had as been phenomenal (ranging from Poetry to Advanced Physics).

Local Area: Raleigh is a nice city overall but its big and a car is needed to get to anywhere you really want to go

Scholarships: This school is skimpy when it comes to giving out money and mostly gives the minimum

Administration: as long as you do what youre supposed to do most officers will let you slide with little things

Athletics: the teams here are good and the athletes aren't glorified

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: i dont feel threatened on campus but of course its always good to stay aware of your surroundings

Majors: I hate Chemical engineering, but our program is great!! It is an additional application to be accepted to the CBE program. You must have already completed prerequisites and have a certain GPA.

3 College Senior

Party Scene: I'm not big into the party scene. I usually go to Durham and party with Duke graduate students.

5 College Senior

Administration: Very strict about the honor code, which I value. Our academic rigor and excellence is what makes us better than UNC.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: Rooms are small, and the lottery system is relatively competitive. However, the RAs are great!

Health & Safety: I very safe in the day, but would never go out by myself at night. Luckily there are police escorts from the library after 10:00 pm

Majors: I love my major. I have been able to explore many aspects to international studies and politics.

Majors: There are many options, just depends on what one decides. Some people have 1-5 hr, some have 8-20 hr internships. No matter what, an internships helps develop what one wants/not want in a career field and gain experience.

Diversity: We have a lot of diversity at NCSU!

Overall, the students' experience with NCSU is that it provides them with a rich learning environment. Students learn to balance play and work. Some come to NC State because of family tradition, to get away from the cold, or because of the College of Engineering-but whatever the reason is for the individual, positive feedback always finds its way out. Professors at the University will go above and beyond their call of duty. You make lifelong friends, and you have a huge list of organizations to partake in. Whether you're involved in a college sport, student government, or the Agribusiness Club, you will find your niche here among the thousands of students. Some professors will take you under their wing, and you will learn enormous amounts of information from them. These professors will also become lifelong connections who will probably end up writing letters of recommendation for you when it is time for you to find a job.

NC State wants its students to succeed not only in academics, but in life, too. Here you learn important lifelong skills that are essential to your survival in the real world. Classes can be rigorous and stressful, but students find a way to overcome hardships and get through. Professors will push you to do your best, but at the same time, they understand what it was like to be a student. NC State will help you become an expert in your subject of choice, and with the large number of students, you will come out of college ready to work in some of the most diverse settings.
