Campus Housing: Living on campus is a fantastic way to meet people and I recommend it to everyone. This is my second year in the dorm and I love it. Convenient, big enough, and a community you can't beat. On campus is the best. Tri towers are perfect

Party Scene: I always have a great time, but I'm not too picky. A place to dance around with your friends is all it takes and the frats are good for that. Plus knowing people in the fraternities makes it more fun because they're you're friends anyway.

Off-Campus Dining: Hillsborough street has some great little places; there's coffee shops and a couple of puns, plus your normal chains like chipotle. There's a lot of chains down western too like McDonald's and Wendy's. Downtown has some more diverse options and sit-down restaurants.

Scholarships: APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS. Everywhere. Seriously. Even the smallest amount helps. Departments and clubs just have money laying around waiting for someone to claim. I regret not applying for more.

Majors: I was accepted into state as an engineer (which was fairly difficult) but just switched into the college of natural resources. I had a lot of support with switching; advisors and department heads met with me to discuss my plans for the future. I still had to apply like everyone else, but the process itself wasn't painful. Make connections!

Majors: My program is very small, maybe around 35 students total. There professors and straff make a conscious effort to get us all to know each other through meetings, activities, and banquets. There's a strong sense of community outside the classroom. Also, the staff are able to help us more one-on-one which is fantastic. I love where I am.

Local Area: Everyone loves State students, we're catered to in most places off campus and we're regarded pleasantly. There's lots of shops and restaurants around so there's always stuff to do. It's a nice at a with nice people

Off-Campus Dining: Hillsborough, Mission Valley, downtown Raleigh and Cameron Village all close to campus allow for a ton of different options.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, the students' experience with NCSU is that it provides them with a rich learning environment. Students learn to balance play and work. Some come to NC State because of family tradition, to get away from the cold, or because of the College of Engineering-but whatever the reason is for the individual, positive feedback always finds its way out. Professors at the University will go above and beyond their call of duty. You make lifelong friends, and you have a huge list of organizations to partake in. Whether you're involved in a college sport, student government, or the Agribusiness Club, you will find your niche here among the thousands of students. Some professors will take you under their wing, and you will learn enormous amounts of information from them. These professors will also become lifelong connections who will probably end up writing letters of recommendation for you when it is time for you to find a job.

NC State wants its students to succeed not only in academics, but in life, too. Here you learn important lifelong skills that are essential to your survival in the real world. Classes can be rigorous and stressful, but students find a way to overcome hardships and get through. Professors will push you to do your best, but at the same time, they understand what it was like to be a student. NC State will help you become an expert in your subject of choice, and with the large number of students, you will come out of college ready to work in some of the most diverse settings.
