5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Our Student Health Center is very new! Sexual assault is taken very serious on campus.

Health & Safety: Nothing really goes on on campus. Just be careful at house parties and places where the intoxication is high.

Health & Safety: While campus has decent protection from their police department, i wouldn't consider it the safest. I have been here at A&T for nearly two years and already 2 people killed both are homicides. Another student was shot and survived. Sexual assault is hard to pinpoint because i have heard a lot of stories here where a black female has claimed to be raped but it ended up not being true thus another YOUNG black mans future ruined at the hands of his own race. I'm not saying sexual assault doesn't exists but i have just heard a lot more fibs than valid stories. Young black men have been warned.

Health & Safety: Have not been around campus much to experience what goes on, but I know that they attempt to keep the campus orderly and crime free.

Health & Safety: Security on campus is average. I think they get comfortable with the campus and are a little relaxed. When they get to know students they let their guards down a little. That is the same thing I experienced in highs school. They get familiar with the students and are a little lenient.

NC A&T and the city of Greensboro has had its share of crime throughout the years. As a result, the University Police Department works in cooperation with the Greensboro Police Department to ensure that the students live in a safe, on-campus community. There are emergency security boxes all around campus, as well as local phone numbers to call in the case of an emergency. Students can also sign up to receive alerts about campus activity via AggieAlert!, which sends students text message alerts about inclement weather and other emergency events. Theft is the one of the most common concerns on the NC A&T campus. After students receive their refund checks, they often don't take the proper precautions to protect themselves from being the victims of theft. It is very important for students to take the proper steps to protect themselves by keeping their doors locked at all times, keeping all valuables in a personal safe or closet out of sight, marking personal property with their names (if possible), and keeping a list of the serial numbers of computers and other electronic items to make it easier to track them down if stolen. There are security officers who patrol campus and even the dormitories throughout the night, but do not rely on them to protect you 24/7. It is very important for students to protect themselves! Stay very aware of your surroundings, try not to walk alone at night, and even stay alert while walking on campus during the day.
