Administration: Haven't had many experiences with administration, but I think they're pretty much like any school.

3 College Freshman

Administration: I think having visitors come in should be easier. I should have a guest stay for as long as I want them to.

Administration: Hard to be strict when you don't have an actual campus

Administration: Administration is fine for the most part. Not too strict aside from some RA's or dorm advisors.

The truth is if you stay out of trouble, you may never really have an encounter with any of the public guards during your stay at NYU (besides showing them your ID daily of course, without which, you will not be allowed to enter any campus building). Often, students say that campus strictness is not very harsh, but everything’s relative. Some RAs and other campus officials are worse than others, but most students agree that if you are careful, you can get away with whatever it is you are doing. Mostly, students are busted for smoking (pot and cigarettes), drinking, or being too loud in their dorm rooms.

If you respect yourself and your fellow students, you most likely will not get in trouble. Campus police are rarely involved with students who misbehave in the dorms, so mind your RA, if he or she seems strict. You are unlikely to get in trouble with campus police if you act low-key. The best part of NYU being a private institution is that everything is handled internally. If you are caught drinking underage or with illegal substances, NYPD never hears of it—NYU takes care of reprimanding you within its own system.
