Campus Housing: RA's can be annoying, but they have certain rules they must follow. If you're smart and don't open the door until all bottles & paraphernalia is hidden, then you're fine. But getting written up isn't even a big deal, generally. I lived in Hayden Hall- which is about to get renovated- I met some of my best friends on my floor and had some great times in my dorm.

Athletics: The gyms are the only good things. Students joke about how unimportant sports are though, and I don't know anyone who goes to events

Scholarships: Financial aid can be a hit or a miss. Personally, because of my parents income I don't receive much at all, so I am filling out this survey for a scholarship.

Drug Safety: They only people who get drugs are the people who really want them and those people don't care whether you're interested or not.

Majors: I like it a lot, but I wish it didn't require so many credits so I could double major.

Greek Life: I didn't even know there was Greek life at my school until the club fair in the beginning of second semester. But some people I met love it. It just isn't very impacting on my social life

Off-Campus Housing: Finding an apartment that doesn't kill your wallet is one problem, then when you finally do it's usually 1 hour+ transportation to campus via train. But... it can be cheaper than upperclassmen housing if you find it.

Diversity: New York University is probably one of the most diverse colleges in the country.

Scholarships: This school hardly gives out any scholarships and if they do, they look for every excuse on why you don't qualify. They have scholarships that are based more on need than merit. If you plan to attend NYU, make sure your pockets are stuffed with money because it is one of the most expensive schools in the country.

Diversity: NYU is a very good school. Its programs are very engaging. However, its financial aid system is absolutely terrible.

The system is broken. No one communicates with you until there is a problem with the school getting paid.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

NYU offers students a taste of the hustle and bustle they will most likely encounter in the real world once they graduate. It is an overpopulated institution, so you have to be ready to fight to gain certain academic opportunities, but cultivating such a habit may serve as indirect training for new graduates when they have to go about securing jobs in their respective fields. Life at NYU demands a certain kind of disposition; thus, it is not for everyone. For students who love NYC and the challenge and experience it offers, it is an exciting and ever-changing community. For those who desire a community-rich college experience, NYU is lacking in that area. However, you can make an amazing experience out of what the school does offer. Whatever your choice, get ready for a mix of demanding academics and wild experiences in the city. Finding a balance between the two is key at this big-city school.

Many students claim that the best part about attending NYU is living in New York City, while other students complain about the school's large tuition. Most often, students are dissatisfied with the lack of a campus or school spirit, and many students believe that the institution is run too much like a business, with the school using millions of dollars to make NYU a global institution instead of supporting its current students. Otherwise, most students appreciate the various benefits of living in the city, such as diverse and exciting nightlife options, a broad range of cuisines, and prestigious and diverse internship opportunities.
