Scholarships: A lot of people don't get any financial aid and the requirements to get financial aid are very high. They tend to set the requirements very high for who can get financial aid and it is very unfortunate because so many people do not get the help they need. We also have a lot of international students and I don't think they receive financial aid at all so those students pay full price which doesn't seem to raise the amount of help given to US students.

Majors: Because we have so many different colleges and every single one has different requirements it is difficult to go into this school not knowing what you want to major in or later wanting to switch because you would have to do the requirements all over again. I personally didn't know that I wanted to go into business until the end of my freshman year. By then, I had two choices, pick from the VERY limited number of majors outside of our business school, or transfer into the business school. The business school accepts under 10 transfers internally from NYU every year and it has its own set of requirements to fulfill on top of the ones I fulfill for the school I started in.

Majors: It is a two year liberal arts program from which you transfer into another college on our campus afterwards. It is an okay program for those going into Liberal Arts; but unfortunately, while in this program I realized that it is not the type of education I want, I would prefer something more math based, but it is too late to transfer and too much of a hassle. There aren't really any internship or networking opportunities because the program is so short and in general they do not really focus on jobs. The faculty and curriculum are challenging and it is a heavy workload however so you do get a good education.

Diversity: We have a lot of acceptance on our campus overall. We have a very large number of LGBT students so everyone is accepting of them because they are so used to it. We have a wide range of political beliefs and everyone is always free to express themselves though sometimes debates arise over certain ideas on our student Facebook pages but it is usually very interesting and it shows student's passions. We have a very large variety of students in terms of culture and economic backgrounds considering the fact that we have so many local, national, and foreign students. You can never assume someone's cultural or economic background until you ask them because of the immense variety among our students.

Overall Experience: Everything about NYU makes me happy. The only regret I have is just not receiving a lot of money. Other than that I know I made the right choice and that I would not be as happy if I were to attend any other school.

Athletics: There aren't really sports besides a few intramurals and division three sports. However no one really attends game seeing how there are hardly any but there is a running joke with purchasing football shirts even though we don't have a football team.

Off-Campus Dining: Again you are living in one of the most busiest cities in the world so there is literally business everywhere, food included. Whether you want a taco or a cappuccino, there are endless food options so get eating!

Diversity: New York University takes in a variety of students that allow people to literally interact with the world. It is quite common for a group of friends to come from seven different ethnic backgrounds considering how many international students apply to NYU.

Guys & Girls: I think everyone is just really hard working and powerful. I haven't been to school at NYU yet but from what I've seen on tours and orientations, both guys are girls just seem really in touch with themselves, wearing all different kinds of clothing that represents them and their interests, which I think it great.

Off-Campus Dining: New York is FILLED with all kinds of diverse restaurants, so NYU has the bonus of being right in the hub of this. Although prices to vary depending on the restaurant, the diversity and convenience is extremely attractive.

Majors: One of the reasons why I chose NYU was because of these amazing internship opportunities. I really hope I can have one or two internships during my college career, and I know that they will be critical in my education and success in my future job.

Off-Campus Housing: I know of a lot of students that stay in nearby apartments and lofts in their junior and/or senior year at NYU and speak highly of their decision, so it's awesome that that's available for those who are interested.

Health & Safety: New York is always going to be a dangerous place, that's something the university has no way to prevent because it is an urban campus. But I think they do a fantastic job on educating students on safety, especially transportation wise.

Campus Housing: The way the rooms are designed really give you the "NYC high rise" feel that so many students crave, and it really attracts a lot of students to take advantage of campus housing.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

NYU offers students a taste of the hustle and bustle they will most likely encounter in the real world once they graduate. It is an overpopulated institution, so you have to be ready to fight to gain certain academic opportunities, but cultivating such a habit may serve as indirect training for new graduates when they have to go about securing jobs in their respective fields. Life at NYU demands a certain kind of disposition; thus, it is not for everyone. For students who love NYC and the challenge and experience it offers, it is an exciting and ever-changing community. For those who desire a community-rich college experience, NYU is lacking in that area. However, you can make an amazing experience out of what the school does offer. Whatever your choice, get ready for a mix of demanding academics and wild experiences in the city. Finding a balance between the two is key at this big-city school.

Many students claim that the best part about attending NYU is living in New York City, while other students complain about the school's large tuition. Most often, students are dissatisfied with the lack of a campus or school spirit, and many students believe that the institution is run too much like a business, with the school using millions of dollars to make NYU a global institution instead of supporting its current students. Otherwise, most students appreciate the various benefits of living in the city, such as diverse and exciting nightlife options, a broad range of cuisines, and prestigious and diverse internship opportunities.
