4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The first apartment I lived in (Casa Bella) was absolutely horrible. I lived there for a year, and during the time the apartment required many repairs, culminating in a leak in the roof that led to my ceiling collapsing and black mold. Neither of these issues was a big deal to the landlord, who still tried to charge me for many different costs pertaining to this. Needless to say, it was a bad situation. I live in Casa Bandera now, and while I dislike the cost, it is clean, safe, and the management is much better.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of places I like to eat at, many of which are well priced and provide a lot of food. Some use student discounts, but not as many as there used to be.

Administration: Overall, it's average. I've never had any issues with the strictness, but I also don't get into trouble or do anything that could endanger my academic status.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I have had some issues with financial aid, but everything has been resolved quickly.

Party Scene: Frankly, I'm too socially awkward to know anything about the party scene at my school. I hang out with a small group of friends, and I haven't been to any larger parties that I enjoyed.

Campus Food: I prefer Frenger and Einsteins because the meals there are cheap and delicious. Blake's is also well priced, but not as healthy so I try to skip it.

College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I have never lived on campus, and am instead in an apartment.

Overall Experience: Really a 3.5. For someone coming from out of town, I bet orientation was great. For someone who has lived here their whole life and knows the campus, it was pointless. One plus was that the people dealing with initial course registration were helpful.

Off-Campus Housing: I live off-campus, but have lived in Las Cruces my whole life. I live at home.

Off-Campus Dining: If you can get off campus, there are many great restaurants...Dublin's Street Pub is one of those. However, we have a LOT of Mexican and Asian cuisine, which is good, but can get tiring.

Administration: The administration doesn't deal with the students that often. Dr. Caruthers is a great president, though. He understands the students and their experience.

Scholarships: The Lottery Scholarship is nice, but it's only for 8 consecutive semesters. In my experience, NMSU did not try and help the student get the financial aid; the process was almost not worth the issues and problems I had to deal with.

Campus Food: There are some great options and there are some terrible options. Sometimes, it's easier to cross the street off-campus for better food at a better price.

Off-Campus Housing: I don't live off campus, people who live off campus seem to like it though.

Scholarships: I really don't have anything to compare to. We have a raffle like thing. fasfa is totally separate. The financial aid people are easy to work with.

3 College Student

Party Scene: we are in a small town so... if you like drinking and smoking weed, it's good. Otherwise, you will have to go to El Paso fro a semi decent party, with dancing. The Greek parties can be good. otherwise, the parties are crowded and get busted fast.

Campus Food: the rest of campus is great, but Taos is horrible. The work staff is moody, the food is bad, fatty, and sometimes cold, the meal plan is definitely not worth what we are paying. It is more expensive than organic, and none of the food in there is organic.

Campus Housing: I love Garcia, honestly the best dorms. love the social atmosphere. Only wish there was less black mold.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There students at NMSU are very diverse. Everyone dresses differently.

Campus Quality: The facilities on campus do need work on them. the green spaces here are very poor.

2 College Freshman

Academics: I am thinking about changing my major just because our department is poorly funded.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: NMSU needs more options to pick from because it can get old.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: the financial aid is okay here. Everyone that goes to NMSU usually gets the Lottery scholarship.

1 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The campus housing is the worst. All the dorms are outdated and need to be remodeled.
