3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: The only place that advertises on campus for off campus place is one aprtment place. Other than that its all for yourself

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There's a lot of variety of cafes and little places all over the place. It's cool to try new ones and go to your fave a lot

3 College Freshman

Administration: I mean common sense - underage drinking or drug use is frowned upon and if caught serious consequences

so Don't do stupid stuff you're fine

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: It's all about being greek to go to the rager parties

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: There are hoops to jump through but after a while you get used to it and know how to go through it so it gets quicker

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: We have quite a few on campus selections and a lot just across the street so ther's always aomething to choose from

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Dorms are ok. You learn dorms are similiar to cliques and the trick is to finding the one that suits you.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I do feel pretty safe on campus. There is a pick up service that will pick you up at any location on campus if it is late and you need to get back to your dorm or car from the library or any other place. There are services to get places safely.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: The weight room is pretty small and I wish it was a bit nicer with more stations to work out at because it does get pretty packed no matter what time you go.

Greek Life: I do not really know much about greek life but i would not join a sorority at all. It is not my scene. I think that most people in sororities and fraternities are snobby and think they are all that. Most of the guys I know that are in fraternities care only for parties and drinking. I have known people before they joined greek life and they changed completely right after they joined; they are pretty snobby.

Off-Campus Housing: I have not really had the opportunity to check out or learn about off campus housing options but some friends who do live off campus enjoy it and seem happy with where they live. Most apartments are very close to campus and work well with finding you a roommate if you do not have one.

Off-Campus Dining: Most restaurants close very early and there are only a few that I know of who do discounts like iHop and McDonalds. Those are also some of the few who are open 24 hours. Taco bell is open late, but there are not many options to choose from, It would be nice if restaurants were open a bit later. McCallisters is definitely one of the best places to check out along with Wing Stop.

Administration: The school has very strict rules which makes it a place where most students should want to attend and feel safe at if those rules are followed and their main focus is their education.

Party Scene: This is definitely not a party school or a party town. It is a very small town where I have heard and known that parties get shut down very easily. I think that the party scene has a negative impact on most of the students experiences. Maybe at times it is a positive experience because they realize that schoolwork should be more important than partying.

Scholarships: There were many instances in which I had to call the office in order to make sure that I received the correct amount for my Western Undergraduate Exchange Program. There were times that my balance was way higher than it should have been due to the fact that there was a smaller amount for that aid on my account. I had to call several times but the issue was finally resolved; they explained that most of the time they are glitches in the system. But it is an inconvenience when you are attempting to do the math in order to pay off your balance.

Campus Food: The food at taos is definitely not worth the price payed for the meal plan. Freshmen student options are definitely overpriced and required for students living on campus. It is convenient but in my opinion not worth the price because the quality of the food is not all that great and there is never much of a variety to choose from. There are a few fast food places we can use our dining dollars at but I feel there could be a bit more variety as well.

Campus Housing: The housing residency that I am in is not the best but it is okay to live in. There are far more greater housing options throughout campus that I am excited for future years. I would say I am in the worst housing community compared to the others but it is okay. The cost is not bad at all but the atmosphere isn't all that great. Quiet hours are rarely respected and the fire alarm is pulled very often at very late hours of the night/morning. The social atmosphere is okay, there are some events that the housing committee of students puts together which makes living here enjoyable. The housing process is very simple and easy both as an incoming freshmen and returning student. Emails, reminders and instructions are sent on how to continue or update your housing options for the upcoming year.

Off-Campus Housing: The first apartment I lived in (Casa Bella) was absolutely horrible. I lived there for a year, and during the time the apartment required many repairs, culminating in a leak in the roof that led to my ceiling collapsing and black mold. Neither of these issues was a big deal to the landlord, who still tried to charge me for many different costs pertaining to this. Needless to say, it was a bad situation. I live in Casa Bandera now, and while I dislike the cost, it is clean, safe, and the management is much better.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of places I like to eat at, many of which are well priced and provide a lot of food. Some use student discounts, but not as many as there used to be.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: Overall, it's average. I've never had any issues with the strictness, but I also don't get into trouble or do anything that could endanger my academic status.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I have had some issues with financial aid, but everything has been resolved quickly.

Party Scene: Frankly, I'm too socially awkward to know anything about the party scene at my school. I hang out with a small group of friends, and I haven't been to any larger parties that I enjoyed.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: I prefer Frenger and Einsteins because the meals there are cheap and delicious. Blake's is also well priced, but not as healthy so I try to skip it.

College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I have never lived on campus, and am instead in an apartment.

Overall Experience: Really a 3.5. For someone coming from out of town, I bet orientation was great. For someone who has lived here their whole life and knows the campus, it was pointless. One plus was that the people dealing with initial course registration were helpful.
