2 College Freshman

Campus Food: Ham is gross, that has been established. Four winds food isn't bad but they run out of things quickly and the atmosphere at that place is awful and it's a long walk from the residential side. The continence store was a good addition though.

Campus Food: The staff in Ham are very nice. The food is hit or miss... sometimes things are unexpectedly delicious and other times downright gross. Sometimes the lack of variety is annoying but overall not so bad, especially since management is very receptive to criticism.

Campus Food: The food is majorly overpriced and not nutritious. 4 winds is okay but it takes forever to get your incredibly tiny portion. The convenience store has decent weekday hours and the substation can be a life saver, in terms of getting portion size and nutrition.

Campus Food: We were voted #2 worst in the nation, and with good reason. The hours are erratic and often food runs out hours before the dining hall closes. The options are fairly distasteful, limited, and somewhat unpredictable. It was often a challenge for many of my friends to eat, especially those who required vegan options. I had trouble as well, even though my dietary choices were mostly unlimited. I commend them for trying to resolve some issues by selling ice cream and organic produce, but it was not enough to outweigh the terrible food quality. Hopefully with our new food provider, some of these issues will be resolved.

Campus Food: MY campus dining is TERRIBLE! We are served the same food nearly every day (if they are even open to serve) and even though there are options for vegetarians, they are not healthy in anyway, nor do they taste good.

Food services is a source of bitter controversy on campus. With so many vegetarian, vegan, health-conscious, and epicurean students, Sodexo (the campus food provider) could do a better job keeping everyone happy. Many students find the food to be repetitive and unhealthy with inferior ingredients. The cafeteria hours are limited, and the weekend ushers in a food drought of sorts. NCF has a food-conscious population that finds itself saddled with a food service provider who, despite attempts to improve, continually underperforms student expectations. In fact, there have been talks of starting a student-led food co-op program to replace Sodexo's services.

There is one main dining hall on the East Side of campus (Hamilton Center). On the West Side, the popular student-run Four Winds Café provides an alternative. Students and professors congregate there for discussion, tutorials, and relaxation. The Four Winds provides a necessary alternative to the Sodexo doldrums. Unfortunately, the meal plan cannot be used there without paying a transfer fee. Surprisingly, a large amount of students makes the transfer. Sodexo could be better, but at least they’re keeping people nourished. The cooks are open to student input, so it’s all a matter of letting them know what you want. However, just having only one food locale accepting meal plan dollars is aggravating to say the least.
