Majors: It shouldn't have been as easy to get into my program as it was. My friend who is not a good student at all got into the dental hygiene program as well. If they wait list you don't worry because they almost never reject kids.

Majors: The dental hygiene program blows and I generally like my major. It's so sugar-coated and easy that half of the people who complete the program won't be able to actually get a job because they won't be used to the hard work.

Diversity: There is a lot of diversity on campus which is one good thing about Mount Ida. Mount Ida is very accepting of the LGBQT community and never makes anyone feel out of place. There is also a lot of diversity with economic backgrounds, Mount Ida is generous with aid so a lot of different people can attend this school. We also have a lot of ethnic/racially diverse people who are a part of the student body.

Academics: I'm in dental hygiene and I regret choosing this school. I was accepted into all of my other programs for dental hygiene and I picked Mount Ida. I should've gone to University of New Haven or University of Michigan.

Academics: The academics actually suck, which is a large part of why I am transferring. This is basically a good school for people with disabilities or just kids who couldn't keep consistent B's and A's in high school. I'm supposed to be in one of the more challenging programs (dental hygiene) but it's a joke. People scoff when they see you've gotten your bachelor's in Dental Hygiene at Mount Ida.

Campus Quality: There are a few good places to go and study. It's usually pretty quiet on campus anyways so you can even study in your room on a Saturday night if you really have too. Basically everyone knows each other too.

Local Area: Newton itself is a nice, safe town. There are other schools that are close by which you can go to for parties. Boston is also only 8 miles away from campus so there's plenty to do..

Guys & Girls: If you're a solid 7, you become a 10 if you go here.

Overall Experience: I wouldn't choose this school again because of many reasons. Example A, is the size of the school. I don't know why I thought this would be a good school for me, I came from a very small town already and this made it even worse. It also doesn't help that I live about 45 minutes away from the school. There is just about nothing to do on campus, off campus it isn't so bad once you hit over 21 because you can go to different bars and stuff. There really aren't any on campus parties and if there is one then it'll get busted-just wait. The athletics blow too, I almost played softball here but then realized it isn't worth it. The athletes who play think they're better than they really are, I mean come on it's D3, no one cares. Overall just really hate this school and cannot wait to transfer.

Overall Experience: I strongly dislike Mount Ida college. I think it is barely a step up from community college. I am a part of the dental hygiene program and I find it extremely boring, the teachers suck and so do the courses. The girls are mostly trashy and the guys are mostly desperate. I should've picked a different school and I plan on transferring out next year. I am a sophomore in college and I don't know how I stayed for almost two whole years. There is almost nothing to do on campus and it's basically high school part two. Save yourself the time and money and go somewhere better.

2 College Student

Overall Experience: The professors really aren't very helpful and you have to do a lot of the work yourself, which is expected. They just aren't the least bit helpful or caring.

3 College Student

Health & Safety: The nurse is a nice lady, but my high school nurse could do a better job than her. She always seems confused. The campus crime isn't really bad because it's such a small school, not much goes on.

College Student

Greek Life: We don't have greek life.

College Student

Off-Campus Housing: I live on campus so I wouldn't really know.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: There are a decent amount of places to eat off campus but who really has that much spare money to spend in college? Not me! Most places do not take student discounts either which really sucks, I honestly try to spend the money that I do have on my own groceries, healthier, cheaper and tastes better.

Administration: Wow the campus police are super strict. I didn't think it would be that bad until I actually went here. There's not much you can get away with on campus, if you think you're going to be able to conceal alcohol you're probably wrong. I literally had vodka in my water bottle and the police somehow noticed it. Don't even bother here.

Scholarships: This might be the only redeeming quality about this school. I easily got money from Mount Ida because they give money away like there is no tomorrow. They aren't a very good school so they're constantly giving money away to even mediocre/bad students so their enrollment doesn't stoop too low. I got $20k from them for just having B- grades, partly because they wanted me to play basketball, but otherwise the money was not really deserved. Financial aid was easy too, they didn't give me much but since they gave me so much merit aid it didn't even matter.

Party Scene: If you like to consume alcohol frequently then don't come here, simple as that. The RA's aren't nearly as bad as the campus police. Almost every single party that goes on is shut down within the first half hour, and I'm being completely serious. Now on the other hand, if you don't mind having to go off campus for parties then it's not too bad. But once again if you're under 21 you really won't find much to do.

Campus Food: Only on occasion does Carlson serve good food. I am a pretty picky eater in the first place so this is probably why I hate the food at Mount Ida. I have had too many bad experiences with ordering food at Carlson to enjoy it. I've found hair in my food multiple times, and I once even found a clipped fingernail in my pasta. Totally not worth the food plan.

Campus Housing: The campus housing at Mount Ida is not the best. Wingate hall is the worst, so if you're not there then you're probably fine. A lot of the other halls have more spacious dorms than most but nothing fun ever occurs. Most of the RA's are rude and not helpful at all. Your best bet as a freshman is probably Malloy or Shaw. Still wouldn't waste my money coming here if I had a chance to redo it.

Greek Life: Honestly I'm not Greek I've never met a Greek person at Mount Ida and I had no idea they require separate housing.

Athletics: Athletes get the most respect.

Overall Experience: I never got an opportunity to get help passing the boards. I never get my degree until I pass many other students 63% are in the same boat as me. Your student loans are too expensive to pay for the boards... Even if you get sick you must be terminal to have some hold on student loans. Unprepared for the boards, no jobs for funeral service and no help from Robert brooks in student services. He merely states I'm not qualified. Great if your rich awful if your making less then 20,000 a year. It was a bad choice I wish I never went because the student interest on my loans is crushing me.

Overall Experience: Mount ida college in Newton has one of the best dental hygiene programs many student 100% pass the boards the first time. No one ever expects 5 years to pass the boards for funeral service. I'm worried about my career options since I didn't pass the boards and I have no employment my student loan bills are compiling. No one tells you that you won't find a job right after college. It's scary stay with your parents and when you have student loans ask for help. They won't help unless you have a terminal, let me state this again terminal illness. There is no forgiveness otherwise your credit is bad. I loved learning anatomy from two different professors and watching three people drop out from drug abuse. Most people can't work 40 hours and do school work for 35. It's terrible if your parents can pay for you enjoy your experience if you owe people money it's gonna be tough.

Overall Experience: Recruiters promise you will land a career right away. They promise it will be easy as one two three. In all actuality finacial aid or someone will call once a semester and let you know something didn't go though and you might have to come up with 8,500. In three days or you can not register. Constant dread of financial aid paperwork or a check not being received on time threatens your focus. Professors say they don't get paid enough no one has anywhere to park and lastly when you go on your visit and someone shows you around they are gettig paid 5.50 an hour going towards their tuition. I am done with school I was not prepared for the boards even though I was a Bplus student. I was told I am clear for th boards no one contacts or helps ever again. I've applied to 17 funeral homes and don't fall for the associates degree they only want bachelors candidates.
